“Only Acting” is Kero Kero Bonito’s first original song since 2017’s “Forever Summer Holiday”. Featuring noisy rock instrumentation, it stands in contrast to their typical electropop sound. Fans were especially surprised with the inclusion of glitch and harsh noise elements.

“Only Acting” follows a social-media-age identity crisis, the song itself coming unhinged as its narrator spins out of control.

The song was released as part of a single from their EP TOTEP. It was accompanied by a music video directed by Homer & Farley.

In the glitching portion of the music video at 3:39, the words “time ‘n’ place” briefly appear on the screen. This being a hint to the title of Bonito’s second album of the same name. Though it would be announced until later on in Spring 2018.

“Only Acting” was first debuted live at a December 2017 concert in their hometown London.
