Javanese is a language used by Javanese people in Central Java, East Java and Yogyakarta. Javanese is also used by residents who live in several other areas such as Banten, especially Serang, Tangerang, and Cilegon and West Java, especially in the northern coastal region which includes Karawang, Indramayu, Subang, and Cirebon.

Central Java has a rough and smooth Javanese language, mostly fine Javanese languages ​​are located in cities around the capital city of Central Java such as in solo and in Semarang. In Yogyakarta also uses subtle language, while those in rough Javanese are found in cities in the border area between West Java and Central Java and usually in cities around the North & South Coast. Here’s the meaning of 4 Paramasastra in Indonesian:

  • “Aksara” in Indonesian is letter.
  • “Wanda” Indonesian is a syllable.
  • “Tembung” Indonesian language is Kata.
  • “Ukara” Indonesian language is the Sentence.

Based on the shape, broadly speaking the level of the Javanese language is divided into 5 levels namely ngoko bases; rough base; middle class; manners and bases of kedaton or bagongan

Then the five speech levels in detail are divided into 13 levels, namely: ngoko lugu; ngoko andhap between bases; ngoko andhap basa antya; madyo ngoko; madyatara; madyakrama; mudokrama; between; wredakrama; krama inggil; krama deso; kedaton or bagongan bases and crude bases.

Actually, if summarized in Javanese language everyday there are 3 levels, namely Krama (smooth); Intermediate (ordinary); Ngoko (association) or crude base.

Ngoko is one of the most widely used levels of Javanese language in Javanese. Its use is avoided when talking to older people or respected people. The variety of ngoko has 2 variants, namely ngoko lugu & ngoko alus

Krama is also one of the most widely used levels of language in Javanese among Javanese. Its use is very good when talking to older people or respected people. Krama’s variety has 3 variants, namely innocent krama, krama andhap and krama alus

It is also one of the most widely used levels of Javanese among Javanese. Middle is a mixed language between ngoko and krama, even Madya is sometimes also influenced by Indonesian. This intermediate language is easy to understand and understand.
