The citizenM New York Times Square hotel garners appreciation for its prime location amidst the Manhattan bustle, a stone's throw from major attractions and subway lines. Guests commend the spotless premises and contemporary flair, although the rooms are on the snug side. The high-tech amenities and stylish rooftop bar are highlights, though the hotel's value receives mixed reviews, with some questioning the balance between cost and service. While the service is generally lauded for its friendliness, a few guests have experienced slower-than-desired responses.

Going to keep this brief: The front desk were helpful. Hotel is a smash of artsy and tech forward - artsy pieces and an IPAD that controls nearly everything in the room: blinds, shades, climate, TV. Like many hotels in Ny, rooms are on the smaller side but it’s brightly lit, super clean and has everything you need as a solo person - free wifi, a fridge, cable TV, & a desk. The way the room is designed is very smart, where space is kept in mind for designing the rooms, thus fixtures are sleek or compact and storage space is under the bed snd sink. Also, it’s within 15 minutes walking distance of Times Square area which made my stay pretty quiet. Only con I can think of is I Wouldn’t recommend for group trips as the rooms are on the smaller side.

Lovely hotel and clean. The room was tiny and the toilet was literally in the room but covered by ‘a plastic wall’. It was a little bit awkward whenever we used to go to the toilet because we could hear the person who was in the toilet. In the room everything works from the ipad (tv, room’s lights and etc) you can choose to turn on and off the light manually but we loved the modern way🤩 In the bathroom you can choose any light colours. The breakfast is super duper great. You have many choices and everything is super fresh. If you are a gluten intolerant person you can choose the gluten free bread🥳 The shampoos and etc smell really nice. The hotel offers you a USA adapter for your plugs. In case that you are thinking to bring your slippers do it, because the hotel does not provide any. Something important and nice from the hotel is that they offer to not clean your room snd donate the money to the people who are in need. In the bedroom they offer a recycle bean and a regular one. We had a lovely stay🥰

The hotel was wonderful to us during our stay.
Ambassadors were amazing and went out of their way to ensure we were in our room on time and did extra touches to make my daughters 10th birthday special. We were given room 1010, balloons, baked goods and a personalized card for her birthday upon getting to room.

The hotel is super modern and directly across from Gershwin Theatre, about 4-5 blacks from Rockefeller Center and 1 block from heart if Times Sq. We were also close to all the shopping which was perfect for our stay. My daughter loved all the unique features and I found the drawer for luggage under the bed a great use of space.

I was concerned about the " gentleman's club" next door but it wasn't super noticeable/have alot of activity. The only concern I had was in the tablet that controls everything for the room and tv, there is adult porn which I had no idea about until my daughter discovered it. I do wish they had either warned me about it or added a lock feature to that content since I had a child in the room. No one ever forewarned me.

All in all, it was a great hotel, clean, centrally located, great staff, decent breakfast buffet and a really unique stay for our first trip to NYC. I'd stay again but be careful with the tablet!

We had 6 nights booked to stay in New York just as everything started shutting down. The other 2 hotels we were due to stay in closed and cancelled our booking just as we arrived but CitizenM didn't cancel on us for the first night of our trip and let us stay again the next night when we had nowhere else to go! There were sensible measures in place and they'd closed the lobby to the public. The staff were all very helpful and accommodating and even let us wait there when it was raining the next day for an early flight home. We stayed here 4 years ago on our first trip to NY and couldn't wait to come back here again. Showers are so good, always sleep well in the huge comfy beds and had a great view from our room (probably because rest of hotel was pretty empty!) Only shame is that you only get 2 free movies a day rather than unlimited so have to choose wisely but good choice of movies!

Phenom location for access to Times Square and Theater. Room is very small and king size bed is surrounded by walls on 3 sides. The 'inside' person has to climb over the sleeping partner if you need to get out of bed! Lay in bed to watch tv. Bar size sink is in the room with the toilet and shower in an enclosed small space. The rate was great, the location superb. It is funk, minimalist and technology driven (checkin/out, all room features - lights, tv, blinds...)

Response from Cindy Rijo, General Manager at citizenM New York Times Square
Responded Mar 14, 2022
Hi Tourist564983 Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.We are so glad to hear that you found our hotel to be at a great location. Yes, we are right at the center of multiple train stations and close enough to Times Square but still away from the very crowded streets. We are also glad to hear you enjoyed the check in and check out process as well as the in room technology. Sorry to hear you found the room size to be too small and the bed position to be quite uncomfortable. Just wanted to share a bit of a fun fact with you: Did you know that our square beds allow our guests to sleep in different positions. If you lay down with your head towards the window, it makes getting up in the middle of the night a lot easier. To us, it's very important to make sure our guests have a great night's sleep. Our focus is on the very best essentials in every room, like no clutter, and no unnecessary things most guests never use (like the ironing board). We put in huge beds with dreamy pillows (and a storage drawer underneath), great showers, and MoodPads to control every part of your room. And when you don't feel like going to bed, our living rooms (what other hotels call lobbies) feature comfortable couches, great books and big-screen TVs. We'd like to add that we listen to your feedback and we constantly review the designs of our rooms to meet modern travellers' expectations. While our existing hotels remain as they are, our new and future rooms look different. We hope to see you in the future in one of our latest hotels so you can experience our latest designs. Until then, safe travel, citizen Cindy

I have stayed in a few citizenM hotels now around the world and they never fail to disappoint. If you want something a little different, something super cool and trendy, a hotel that is modern, fun and happening then stay at citizenM. Located a very short walk from Times Square this hotel is perfectly located for exploring and enjoying NYC. My wife and I had a King Room and it cost US$837 for 3 nights including breakfast (which was a self service buffet and was pretty nice). The decor of the room was very modern and ultra-cool with colour changing and dimmable lighting all controlled from the in room iPad tablet. As was the in room media, temperature and window blinds. The bed was up against the window which meant we could lay in bed and see the city out of the window. The public areas of the hotel were also very funky with great lighting and decor making for a very nice ambiance and vibe. Exploring from the hotel was easy with nearby Subway stations and a lot to see in walking distance. There is a place to leave your luggage after check-out if you want to continue exploring before leaving the city.
I would certainly recommend a stay here, especially for young, fun and romantic couples.

Loved this hotel. I’m a bit of a gadget freak so loved the IPad in the room. The room is small but very clean and well laid out. The reason I would say it’s good if you’re on your own is I wouldn’t be too keen if I was sharing with wife/husband/partner because the shower room is basically a shower pod in the middle of the room....near the bed. Very, very thin plastic walls so not pleasant in terms of noise and smell if your other half’s in there having a dump! But as I was on my Jack Jones it was perfect. And....here’s a first.....free hard-core porn movies!! Another reason to be on your own!

Lovely hotel, friendly staff. Perfect location close to subway so great for exploring further a field, steps from Times Square but not right in/on Times Square and a brisk 10 min walk to Central Park and 5th Avenue. Our room didn’t have any tea or coffee making facilities in the room so you have to go out or downstairs for a drink (not sure whether other rooms do). The CitizenM pm shower gel smells wonderful!! Would stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay at citizenm times square, the room had everything you need including a super comfy bed, really great shower and a decent hairdryer! The location of the hotel was perfect for us, a short walk to times square, hells kithcen, central park and the port authority made it a great base for our 5 night trip. We checked in online before we arrived and it took less than 1 minute to get our room key. No hidden charges when we arrived like the resort fee charged in many other hotels. Check out was also really easy and there is secure luggage storage facilities if you have a later flight. They also offer a late check out of 6pm instead of 11am for approx $80, our flight wasn't late enough to warrant using this option however it is definitely something I would use in future if I had a later flight.

Pros:
Great Times Square location.
Close proximity to most Broadway shows/theaters.
Higher levels have terrific views from your bed.
Blackout shade.
Privacy shade.
Colorful options for lighted shower.
Key card entry to room works like a charm.
Fast elevators.
Polite and friendly staff.
Funky lobby.
Very clean rooms. Smelled great when we opened the door to our room.
If you buy a breakfast in the morning ($20/person), you can get coffee or latte at the little coffee bar all day long, at no extra charge.
Cloud bar has a gorgeous rooftop deck! Go.

Cons:
TINY rooms with one queen bed. Not ideal for more than 2 people.
Only 2 pillows per bed.
Only 2 body towels per room.
No hooks anywhere in the room to hang a hand towel (note that the sink is outside the bath).
No parking or valet.
No hair conditioner.
No ice machines or ice buckets. (Must instead go down to lobby bar and ask for a bucket of ice.) Must contact Icon company and reserve a spot in advance at their garage next door, which is at the 250 West 50th Street Garage.
Key card mechanism inside elevators is flawed. Saw many struggling with it. Learned that you have to hold the card toward the upper right corner of the pad, wait til you hear a faint clicking sound, and then you can press the button for your floor.
Insufficient management of morning breakfast. By 9 am on a busy weekday, they ran out of all types of silverware, O.J. and other juices, glasses for water and juice, butter, and certain jellies. In addition, the racks available for tray disposal afterwards soon were full, and people were forced to leave their dirty trays all around the dining area. In the hour we were there, nobody ever came to collect the dirty trays.
