This conference complements the "Missed Peace" exhibition. It looks back at the little-known history of the Allied occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in the aftermath of the 1914-1918 war. The historian will talk about the daily lives of Germans during the Allied occupation, the crisis in the Ruhr, the separatist movements in Rhineland-Palatinate, the influence of the occupation on industry and trade...

This period was a political experiment whose lessons were used, after another world war, to found the European Union.

It should be made clear that this conference is not about politics, and that its aim is to shed light on our history.
