How to reset/change old laptop device password?

Who can I contact for password support? I am trying to log into an old laptop device associated with my account, but I can't remember my password. Is there a way I can reset password from another computer/device? Who can assist me with this?

I would like to reset password without erasing the laptop's memory disk/files/documents/pictures.

Hello, this is Emily.

Is your Windows sign in using your Microsoft account? If so, you can go on a different device, such as your phone, and go to https://account.live.com to reset your password.

If you are using local user to sign in, you will need to answer the security questions if they have ever been set up, or use a password recovery USB if you have made one prior to this.

Otherwise, there's no other way around this. Microsoft support cannot override password issue either unfortunately. You will need to clean install Windows in that case.
