This latest CD from Colin James is a beautiful mixture of blues influenced soul and rock.
The fact that many of the songs were co-written by Gordie Johnson of Big Sugar, Tom Wilson of Blackie and the Rodeo Kings as well Ron Sexsmith, certainly adds to the overall diversity of the songs as well as the superb quality.
Included also are covers of songs by John Lennon, Peter Green and Robert Palmer (written by Allen Toussant).
The ballads are very soulful and very well sung.
The song that stands out for me is Finally Wrote a Song For You, which sounds very much like Big Sugar.
The weakest song in my opinion, is the Lennon song Jealous Guy, but that could be because I am the world's biggest Lennon fan, and I don't like his songs being toyed with.
The whole CD is very well recorded and the musicianship is great thoughout.
Well worth the price.

Had the pleasure to meet him not long ago and his music is as genuine as the man himself. Had this on CD when it was released
and grabbed a vinyl copy from Amazon when i heard it was being released on 180g. Super quiet album and two bonus tracks to boot. Great sound. Love his work with Joe Hardy and the tunes on Fifteen still sound as exciting as when I first heard him in 1988.

Colin has become such a strong solid performer. His song wrtting has become very good and his covers sometimes are as good or better than the originals.

I've been a fan of Colin James' rock/blues sound ever since I first heard "Five Long Years" back in 1988 (OK... I'm old. So what?)
Fifteen is yet another terrific, very palatable CD of ballads and rockers. James' vocals are solid and his playing still kicks butt after all these years. His ability to still sound fresh after years of work reminds me of another white bluesman, George Thorogood.
This CD is a perfect blend of original material (favorites include "I'm Diggin'" and "I Need You Bad") and covers ("Jealous Guy", "Oh Well", "Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley").
If you've drifted away from the music of Colin James, try this CD. It's sure to bring you back.

Colin James Does It Again!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 2, 2013Verified Purchase
Another superb album by Colin James. After the previous album I was starting to think that Colin might be mellowing a little too much for my taste, but this new album has a little more edge and agression in it. I first got into this artist with the release of Sudden Stop which I still think is his best but I like all of his stuff including the 3 Little Big Band albums. I would happily buy a Colin James album now without listening to samples

Changement de maison de disque pour Colin et retour chez emi canada pour une production plus rock que ses precedents opus comme en temoigne des titres comme"i'm diggin" "i need you bad""no time to get there" ou le canadien sort le gros son de guitare a la "sudden stop" un de ses meilleurs albums au passage enregistre en 1990(produit lui aussi par joe hardy tout comme "the little big band 2"),les reprises cote interpretation sont magnifiques avec "jealous guy" de lennon "oh well" de peter green ou encore"sneakin sally through the alley" de robert palmer compose par allen toussaint, mais le versatile canadien nous offre tout de meme des instants soul "fool for you" ballade "love for life" "shoulder to cry on"(une des perles de l'album)ou rock funky"sweets gone sour" et pur rock "stone faith",pour son 15eme album colin james prouve qu'il est un artiste actuel important et qu'il faut compter sur lui,sa discographie est tres variee et de qualite.pascal49
