Reviews
- Contrary to what you may have read elsewhere, and what it says on releases and in catalogues, GOLD is not old 70s recordings. The Marginal-Talent CD says "Recorded 1974-1978" which is utter nonsense, as it's virtually all digital and definitely 1986 or later. There are some themes close to those on Con-Hertz "Contrasts" which dates from 1987, and sound textures close to Constellations or the Tonart works. Quite simply, none of the instruments used here existed before the mid 80s. To this point there was a steady shift and development in Cons work, always progressing with each new piece of equipment that he bought. The E-mu SP-1200 sampler* Con was using at this time was brand new technology which he further used on the "Micon In Italia" LP and almost exclusively on Con-Hertz "Contrasts".
