- Surgy2014Roeselare, Belgium125 contributionsWe had a great time playing this course. Very friendly staff , nice course and very good rental clubs. Loved the atmosphère, made us feel really really welcome. Friendliest golf course we visited in the us so far. Hope we can come again some day.Written May 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JoeNathan9249Saint Paul, MN5,901 contributionsYes, the views are stunning.
With generally very wide fairways (though quite hilly so you really need to hit toward the top of the slope), and multiple tees, it is not a super challenging course. That does not mean it is a beginners or an easy course. You really have to pay attention to - and hit to the right places in the fairway. If not, your balls will roll into the rough which in many places means a lost ball. If you cannot generally control your drivers, you will have a long, long day.
But having played courses all over the world, including Whistling Straits, Pebble Beach, St. Andrews and Kilarney , I can say that this ranks in the top ten in terms of scenery, but not in the top 10 in terms of difficulty.
I was very lucky and played with a local person who on every hole, gave two of us the correct line. This is REALLY important if you not only want to score well but have a good time.
Pro shop and other staff are super friendly. Sometimes staff at well known courses are imho, "snooty." It's the opposite here.
However, unless you can get a good deal (and I searched unsuccessfully for a month), the green fee was (and I'm a senior) $500. You can save a bit by staying at the resort (but not that much - between $30-40) And if you live in Hawaii and have a valid driver's license - it's far less expensive.
Also the greens are very large and in extremely good shape. It's definitely worth arriving an hour early and practicing long putts.
I think if you enjoy trying beautiful courses, this is worth it. For me - once.Written January 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The course was in terrific shape, the challenge was intense with the afternoon winds, and the greens were consistent in their speed. It's been many years since I last played a round of golf at Wailea, but it never disappoints. Even the club rentals were great quality.Written April 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- DebinSanFranciscoTiburon, CA352 contributionsThis course is amazing with great weather. It can be windy during certain times of the year, but we had NO wind that day and sunny weather.
My husband calls every course whenever he books anywhere to check if they punch or sand the greens. And he focuses on weather conditions. To net, it was a great day of golf at this course.Written January 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Nice golf course with good views. We rented clubs and purchased balls. Wish I would have brought or purchased glove for my son as he developed a blister. We played at 2:05 at a discounted rate. The clubs were Calloway and were good. I estimate they were 3 seasons old, so a fair amount of wear and tear but still good clubs. Saw the cart lady once. I recommend you bring some drinks or a large water bottle. Driving range was mats only but close and convenient. Cart guys, starter, and range guy all friendly and helpful. Young man in pro shop was a little chilly.
A little pricy but it’s Maui golf with some distant ocean views. Solid 4 star.Written June 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is very impressive and the setting is fantastic. We were able to walk into the clubhouse and noted a number of FLW design features inside (e.g., doors, lights, etc.). Recommended.Written November 2, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JoeNathan9249Saint Paul, MN5,901 contributionsBeautiful course - terrific views of the ocean; in many ways similar to the Plantation course at half the price (literally). Still cost about $250 for 18 so not cheap. Fairways do not tilt as much here as at Plantation but offer similar stunning views of the ocean.
Glad I played Emerald as it was not as challenging as Gold - but Emerald still has plenty of challenges including large traps. Emerald holes are somewhat shorter than Gold, one of the reasons I as a senior golfer player here.
Beautifully laid out - greens were NOT as fast as the putting green. As with many upscale course, driving range balls are free.
Small discounts available if you agree to play 3 rounds.
All staff super friendly. Strongly recommended if your budget allows green fees.Written January 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Seen many golfers coming off the course and they all looked like they had a good time. I would ignore the comments about how the course is in such bad shape that you can’t play.. For the cost of a round of golf in Maui, it’s likely the best deal on the island.Written October 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The course was pristine as were the magnificent views from every hole. Rented clubs and they were perfect and brand new. Scotty Cameron putter which was real nice. Pace was perfect.Written January 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Bo NPhoenix, AZ105 contributionsIncredibly beautiful views from so many holes! Try to play the entire 18, not just the 14 in the afternoon, so that you don't miss the stunning views on 16 and 17. Lush and green. Water hazards make you use your creativity, but the course is still playable.Written April 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Becky Hart1 contributionOur family of five spent 10 days in April at The Ridge 2423-24 and it was AMAZING. The view off the lanai can't be beat. We saw tons of whales as we ate breakfast on the lanai. We went to sleep listening to the waves and feeling the ocean breeze. The living area was spacious and beautifully decorated. The couches are super comfortable. The kitchen is also spacious and had everything we needed to prepare a large variety of meals. Our kids loved eating at the counter in the high chairs when they weren't eating out on the lanai. They slept in the bunk beds in the room on the main level, which also had a queen bed in it. The master bedroom has a very comfortable king-size bed, and there is also another bed upstairs making it easy for larger groups to stay here. Our kids loved walking to the pool next door every day, and we also walked down to the beach daily. Our 3-year-old easily made the walk himself. The location, comfort, and views from this condo can't be beat. Highly recommend!!!Written May 2, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ryan M25 contributionsI really enjoyed the overall experience. I would say course management a 7/10. Greens I give a 9/10. The fairways are wide open. The "club house" a 2/10, but its because its a park course and not a club or resort, so don't expect it to be nice. I did not try the food or any drinks. They have 2 bathrooms on the course and I saw 1 water station out there. I give the course a 4/10. The course does play long and there are bunkers on most holes. There is one water hole. The views I would give a 10/10. It did not cost a lot to play right new to the ocean. Overall, I recommend it for all golfers and would play again.Written January 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BarryandJackieBerkeley, CA1,057 contributionsThey keep the course in fairly good shape, although it would be grand if more players used the sand provided on their carts to fix divots on the fairway. Greens are large with some elevation changes but not too many as you get closer to the hole. Some narrow fairways and easy to lose balls off the fairway, and into some water areas. Worth a visit.Written February 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Anthony OMaui, HI8 contributionsI recently booked a golf lesson with David and came away extremely happy. Although I’d never played golf in my life, he took the time to patiently walk me though the art of swinging a club. The best part is I was driving golf balls with confidence while taking away tips for my next outing. I would highly recommend no matter your skill level.Written November 11, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gibson737Ottawa, Canada456 contributionsKa'anapali Kai Course - This is a really enjoyable course - very forgiving with stunning ocean views. The course aerates its greens in September like many Hawaiian properties, though they were well top dressed and could be played though. we were offered to play the Royal course (90 minutes later) or have a 30% reduction in green fees which we took them up on. The course was also empty so we played in just over 3 hours which was wonderful. Definitely worth playing at other times of the year (I also would have rated this excellent if the greens were better).Written October 2, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
