England on return to WSL action: “We have two more games to fight for”

Tue 14 May 2024, 09:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Bethany England is keen to not dwell on the disappointment of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup Final defeat as we return to Barclays Women’s Super League action this week.

Our captain spoke of her pride in leading the team out in our first-ever major final, in front of over 76,000 supporters at Wembley Stadium, but it just wasn’t meant to be our day as Manchester United ran out 4-0 winners on Sunday to lift the FA Cup.

But the focus will quickly be switched back to the WSL ahead of our penultimate game of the season on Wednesday evening (7.15pm UK) as we face Chelsea at Brisbane Road before the season finale with West Ham United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (3pm UK).

We have two more games to fight for, make sure we end the season strong.

Speaking to The Review Show after the game with United, Bethany admitted the attention needs to put on finishing the season as strong as possible and reiterated this is only the beginning of the journey for the Club.

“I’m actually grateful we have got a game on Wednesday as we can’t dwell on this… we have two more games to fight for, make sure we end the season strong and we could look to regroup in the summer and go again.

“We are building something here… this team has only been professional for the last five years, it has come a long way and we still have a long way to go but I can’t emphasise enough how proud I am of the girls, the resilience, the character we have shown to consistently fight back this season.”
