The music is incredible. This review is regarding the sound quality of this particular pressing. I haven’t heard any of the other vinyl pressings so I can’t speak for them.

First of all, the source recording isn’t great. The fidelity is on par with a lot of ESP recordings from the same era. Far from terrible, but still not highest fidelity. There are spots that distort on both the CD and vinyl versions. The horns sound good, but the drums aren’t as clear as they could be and the two basses are generally pretty muddy.

I have an extremely clean vinyl copy. Virtually silent background. It’s a great pressing but I also have the CD, and the CD sounds slightly clearer.
