Anissa Lahmari tells FIFA about Morocco's qualification to the FIFA Women's World Cup Round of 16.

  • Morocco are through to Round of 16 in their first ever Women’s World Cup

  • Anissa Lahmari scored the only goal in the 1-0 victory over Colombia

  • The 26-year-old reflects on a proud moment for the country

Not many had been brave enough to tip Morocco to get their first win, let alone progress past the group stage, at Australia & New Zealand 2023™.

However, the Atlas Lionesses proved the world wrong when a first-half goal from Anissa Lahmari secured a 1-0 win over Colombia and left them in second place in Group H.

Lahmari spoke to FIFA after the game about what the result meant for her and her country.

“I think the country must be really proud,” the VISA Player of the Match said. “Morocco must be lit up right now, and the whole world too, because there are Moroccans everywhere.”
