    Pretty good...
Displays were great. The eyes on some wax models were simply astonishing. A decent range of well known characters. Well worth a visit in line with the Peak trip and Observation tower. Went on a weekday, not crowded as per a weekend. One question...are the models true to their height?

    Nothing Special
Madame Tussauds was ok. Nothing special. I guess I expected more backgrounds with the wax figures. We had never been to a wax museum before, so it was an interesting experience. I really liked learning about Madame Tussaud herself at the end of the exhibit. As expected, many of wax figures are Asian and we didn't know most of them, so that probably affected our experience. I don't think I would really recommend this as a must do experience.

    Quite ordinary
Location up at The Peak is great but too congested on a Friday. It's smaller than most Madam Tussaud's venues. Not many contemporary local celebrities on display. The interactive displays were not impressive. Overall, it's good for an hour or two visits but no more than that.

Made my first visit of this year yesterday. Sure had tons of fun meeting my favorite celebrities! Had little trouble with the rotating pinkish blue overhead lighting above most of the displayed figures. Other than that it was worth the visit. Staff were very friendly as usual.

Two wishes I've at the moment is if the displays could be used with just one type of overhead lighting and inclusion of refreshments outlet within the visiting area even if it's limited with bottles of plain water. I spent nearly 5 hours inside starting from the opening hours and desperately wished for a drop of water to drink....

Will definitely visit again, awaiting the arrival of Manny Pacquiao!

Going there

I prefer the bus, nice view on the way there. Be sure to check out victoria peak. Its just on the same building.

What to do

Bring a good camera, so many celebrity replicas you can have a picture with. You have to spend half a day here to get all the shots you want.

Verdict

Going back there with more family members

This was our first visit to Madame Tussauds, so we definitely enjoyed it. Madame Tussauds in HongKong has some peculiar aspects also. For example, this is the only exhibition which has more than 5 characters from a single movie.

Definitely worth going once.

We purchased the combination ticket, tram, museum & peak. Its a fun way to spend a morning.

There's a good mix of personalities from every nation and it wasn't too crowded.

A bit expensive for a limited attraction. Nothing much special here. Good side trip when going to the peak and waiting for the sunset.

We bought the 2 in 1 combo ticket for Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and Peak tram return tickets. Was glad we did as my 7 yr old daughter enjoyed posing for photos with all the stars. As previous reviewers have mentioned it is small and not much room to move in some areas. It was very busy and crowded the day we were there. There is a good mixture of pop stars, sports stars, royalty, world leaders, cultural figures, asian stars, and some character stars like The hulk, spiderman, and astroboy. I think both children and adults will enjoy this attraction. Both me and my daughter certainly did.

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is located at Level P1 of the Peak Tower on Victoria Peak. Inaugurated in the year 2000, it is the first of the only two permanent Tussauds facilities in Asia, the other being in Shanghai. This entertainment area which is modeled on the lines of the original Madame Tussauds at London is open daily from 9.45am until 10.30pm.

Tussauds Hong Kong has around a hundred wax figures, distributed over six themed areas: Hong Kong Glamour, Historical and National Heroes, World Premiere, Scream, The Champions and Music Icons.

A major highlight at Tussauds Hong Kong, Scream is a five minute long interactive horror experience targeted at adults. It is based on the concept of an asylum whose inmates have escaped and with them on the loose, you better do so too! Set in a make believe abandoned asylum, Scream uses both live performers and wax monsters, lots of dark corridors, gore, flashing lights and bloodcurdling sounds to achieve the required scary effect. The Chamber of Horrors at Madame Tussauds, London also features Scream – so whether its Hong Kong or London, people like being scared witless it seems!

Including Scream, a visit to Tussauds here should take you not more than an hour to an hour and a half.

The comparisons with Tussauds of London are inevitable - however having seen that too, we felt that while Tussauds Hong Kong is more 'Asianized' (even 'HongKong-ized' some would say) keeping in mind the target customers, it still is a pretty good show and well worth the visit if only to nicely round off the Peak experience along with the Peak Tram and Peak Tower Sky Terrace.

TIPS:

1. An adult entry ticket is priced at HK$170 – however if you buy the ticket in advance online (http://www.madametussauds.com/HongKong), you get to save 10% which brings the ticket down to HK$153.

2. There is also a Late Saver option available for advance online booking. If you are willing to start your visit at 9.30pm, you get a 30% discount which means your ticket costs you HK$119 – frankly, we would not recommend this because it means that you would have to rush through to finish by closing time which is 10.30pm.

3. A 3-in-1 Combo package (Peak Tram, Peak Tower Sky Terrace & Madame Tussauds tickets) is available at the Garden Road Peak Tram Terminus – the combo ticket price for an adult is HK$220

4. Cameras are allowed all over Tussauds Hong Kong – except at Scream – so make the most of it and pose with all those celebs and villains, present and past.

5. Since there are no ropes or barriers between you and the wax models, you can actually pose amongst the wax figures – which anyway you look at it is a pretty good thrill.

6. There are ‘official’ Tussauds photographers who will happily photograph you with your favourite personalities – our advice is desist – because it is not worth the cost. Even if you are travelling alone, you will find enough visitors who are happy to oblige you by taking your snap.

7. If you are in the mood to splurge, do visit the souvenir shop where you can get to do some really self indulgent, narcissistic things such as get a wax mould done of your hands, get a customized 3D picture of yourself in a crystal cube and even get a small model of yourself!
