Be prepared to leave your shoes with caretakers who might expect a tip upon retrieval. There's a security check before entering the temple grounds. While the daily rituals create a vibrant atmosphere, they can be quite loud. The tooth relic itself is enshrined upstairs in a multi-layered chamber, supposedly opened by authorized personnel. Overall, it was a memorable experience!Written May 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- deanna1 contributionHad a great experience in Udawalawe National Park. We were spoilt by having a lot of places in the park to ourselves and all of the elephants and babies coming up so close!
Our driver and guide Lahiru was so friendly and informative. He even suprised us with a local breakfast for the trip. Absolutely recommend him if you’re coming to the park. - MaiohaFreiburg im Breisgau, Germany694 contributionsEvery time we go anywhere near Kandy we visit the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya and spend an hour walking through them. As usual and as expected, they were excellent.Written May 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Aabith DazBadulla, Sri Lanka45 contributionsSunset seekers, look no further than Pidurangala Rock! This climb might be challenging, but trust me, the reward is absolutely worth the effort. Unlike Sigiriya's Lion Rock, Pidurangala offers a breathtaking panoramic view with Sigiriya itself as the centerpiece. Imagine watching the fiery hues of sunset paint the sky while this majestic rock formation stands tall in front of you. For adventurers on a budget, the entrance fee is just 1,000 LKR for tourists (free for locals), making it an even more attractive option. Don't miss out on this unforgettable experience!Written April 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

Nice views from aboard the train, so we boarded at Nuna Oya and skipped Ella station, getting off at the next (Demodara).
Beautiful scenery between both stations. Highly recommended.Written May 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Roslyn138Wrexham, UK1,050 contributionsWe arrived by cruise ship on the last leg of our trip and decided on a 3 hour taxi trip around the city €30 .
The first stop was Gangaramaya Temple . It was a large complex which is the oldest temple in Colombo , an eclectic mix of Thai , Indian as well as Chinese structures. There is an admission cost but it’s only £2 - keep the ticket as you will use it for the temple by the lake .
There is the temple as well as museum- with artefacts from the country’s past . As you would expect numerous Buddha statues - even the smallest in a glass box that you need a magnifying glass to see.
We then visited the temple by lake Beira which was breathtaking and serene. Our only mistake was not to book a guide to explain the various parts of the temple .Written May 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The different ruins do have signs explaining what that ruin was but the QR code never worked (i've tested at least 5 of them, none of them directly me to the correct page so dont bother), rather hire a professional guide (don't use the guys on site they charge quite a lot)Written May 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
