Best Reason to Watch: There are two predominant reasons to be interested in “3 Body Problem”: First, you may simply be a fan of Liu Cixin’s 2008 novel, “The Three-Body Problem” (or the serialized edition published years earlier), which became an international award-winner across multiple translations. Second, you may be a “Game of Thrones” devotee (or television obsessive) who simply must see what David Benioff and D.B. Weiss do with their first project since “Game of Thrones.” Either way, you’re in store for an ambitious saga involving a group of scientists, an oddball detective, and a woman from the ‘60s as they “confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history” while “the laws of nature inexplicably unravel.” Orbital mechanics and aliens are also involved, but so are Jovan Adepo and Benedict Wong — whether all this adds up to what Netflix wants “3 Body Problem” to be, well, we’ll be eager to find out.
