Kingdom

Kingdom, the manga, is an absolute work of art and hands down my favorite manga of all time (i've read a lot so hopefully this holds weight)! Don't be discouraged by the type of animation the manga is portrayed by. It gets much better in the second season (not yet on Crunchyroll) and will look even better when the [unconfirmed] third season comes out. If you absolutely can't stand the animation, I suggest reading the manga. There are currently 528 chapters to date and the author plans to have over 1,100 chapters of the manga finished by the time Kingdom is over! On top of that, Kingdom is selling like crazy in Japan so it's only a matter of time before the animation starts ramping up once again! In other words, the sooner you get into it, the better! As for the content in terms of story, characters, and capturing the actual history of the warring period in China, this manga nails it all (I apologize in advance for the mass amount of exclamation points)! Shin is obviously my favorite character but there are some other characters later such as Kyoukai, Ouhon, Mouten, etc. that have amazing backstories that span from a poor servant boy in rural China (Shin/Xin) fighting to keep a promise to the fellow servant he grew up with to the nobility competing to impress their parents on the battlefield to tribes in the mountains and villages hidden in the mist where Gods of War and their natural born enemies reside. This is a story for the ages and I really hope that anyone who has read this review will give the manga and anime a shot!

Love the manga! I first ordered this anime on DVD and watched it unsure. Was extremely put off by the animation style but I kept watching and and so happy that I did. After I finished the DVDs I had to get more and read the manga, and am anxiously awaiting more! I love the characters and their personalities! I keep seeing that this story is based on Chinese history and that just makes it more beautiful/interesting. I hope to see this through and hope that both of the MCs obtain their dreams!

Please don't make the same mistake I did and sleep on this anime because of the horrible CGI in season 1! I looked at the first ep and left this anime not knowing of the amazing story I was missing out on, if you can make it pass the first season then I promise this will become an anime you get hooked on! The character development is so good, the fight scenes are amazing with an interesting tactical approach to large scale warfare, based on some of humanity's bloodiest wars in China! 100% recommend
