Clean comfortable stay. Nice bar and restaurant down stairs. It is also close to downtown and the river front which has many places to dine or just grab a drink. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would do this one again.

Quaint, clean, quiet, comfy, cozy.
Great value!. The Staff is super friendly and sincere! Temp control is accurate and effective. overall, the best place by far to stay in Washington, MO area.
The only drawback is no fridge or nuker in the rooms, which they need to supply.
The Old Dutch restaurant attached to the Hotel is simply amazing! great food, great price, great service! The atmosphere takes you back to better and friendlier times.
OLD DUTCH ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Link! Many thanks for the wonderful review. We do have refrigerators for the rooms on a first come first serve basis. We usually hold those for guests traveling with medical issues needing to store medical supplies. Please upon your next visit request one and we will have it waiting for you in your room if we have one available. You may always use the microwave in the hospitality room with the assistance of the staff. We enjoyed having you on your first visit and I really appreciate you reviewing our little hotel. You come back as soon as you can! Thanks, Jackie.

It has been some time since we dined at the Old Dutch, but we stopped in for lunch today and had a very enjoyable meal. My husband had his usual, the blackened salmon and spinach salad - and he could not stop raving about it. I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich - stacked high with lots of good ingredients - very tasty and filling. The bartender/day manager, Jason, was very attentive and personable. Looking forward to going back soon!

Did not use hotel but had dinner in the restaurant - it was recommended by our hotel's front desk.
Good food selection and nice service. Looked like a favorite of local diners.
Easily accessible while walking the town and river areas.

Thank you for the great review. Old Dutch Hotel does provide the ability to stroll along the streets of downtown Washington while enjoying the shops, our riverfront trail and being steps away from our restaurant as well. A perfect way to enjoy our wonderful community! Please come back!

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS REVIEW IS FROM 8/8/2011. I wanted to put it on tripadvisor so others could see photos of the room.
Let me start out by saying this was our first trip to downtown Washington... and I LOVE this town. I wish we could have stayed more than one night. We were visiting to see a friends band play at Otis Campbell's and decided to rent a room instead of making the hour drive back home after a night out. This town is so charming and quaint, yet still populated enough that you don't have to drive far at all to find anything.

This hotel was recently renovated and they didn't skimp on much. One thing to keep in mind is that this is an old rehabbed building and with that, you can only do so much during a renovation. From the moment you enter, you notice the unique touches that give this boutique hotel such a charming feel. The receptionist desk is actually an old wood ice chest or cooler - or something of the sort. We booked a double queen room and were told when we made the reservation that we would be staying in the largest room in the hotel. No lie there, our room was spacious considering this is a boutique hotel in an old renovated building. We had plenty of room for three people. Our room (#305) was on the corner of the building with two walls of windows overlooking downtown Washington. The quality of craftsmanship in the room was great. Wood panel doors, wood trimmed windows, wide window sills (window seat), very nice fixtures, appealing paint colors, subway tiled shower... I'm no expert, but I believe the sink/counter was honed marble - definitely something you don't see in most hotels! The furniture was very Pottery Barn-ish in looks and solid in feel. Comfortable beds, too. The room also had a nice writing desk, nightstand, 2 wooden chairs, wall mounted flat screen TV, coffee pot, hairdryer...didn't see an iron or ironing board. Yes, they do have free wifi in the hotel.

Now, here's something that may not appeal to everyone - there was not a closet or dresser/chest. I didn't find this to be a big issue because there was a wall mounted clothing hanger. Each bed also had two storage drawers underneath. One thing I wish this room did have was a full length mirror. I'm pretty short and there's no way I could see what I looked like in the bathroom mirror from the waist down. Being the huge risk taker I am, I went ahead and wore the new dress I bought without knowing what it looked like with the shoes I had ;) Not a deal breaker - I'd definitely stay here again.

Considering the hotel has only been open for a very short time (as of 8/2011) - they still may be making improvements and additions. My friends stayed in a King room that was not totally finished. They were warned about this beforehand, but they didn't mind. The only thing that they found to be missing were the gas logs in the fireplace. Yep, room #208 has a fireplace! We were told at reservation that the owners are working on a continental breakfast. That should be included with the room within the next few months.

My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights on Sept 6 & 7, 2013. Booking by telephone was easy and the clerk (Taylor) was very helpful. The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Washington, Mo with restaurants, pubs and quaint shops all close and the Amtrak station is only a couple of blocks away. This retro hotel has been very nicely done. Our double room was clean and attractive with 2 queen beds and a really nice large shower stall (no tub). All amenities that anyone would expect were provided including a nice complimentary breakfast selection in the Hospitality Room each morning (nothing fancy). Because the hotel is located in the downtown area, don't expect any attractive scenery. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone traveling in the area.

We booked this for an overnight stay in wine country. The room size was small (12'x12') but was very nice and had all the ammenities we needed for the limited time we would be in the room. The price of the room was very reasonable. The service at the hotel was extremely welcoming. The only complaint that I had was regarding the light on the AC unit. It added too much light to the room for sleeping, although not a problem for my wife. I reported the problem in the morning and the concierge said that they were working on a solution. We will definitely be staying here again when we visit.

We were fortunate enough to stay at the Old Dutch Hotel in Washington, MO. This historic building provided the charm of the early 19th century, but once you walk in the door, you realize that this hotel has both old world charm, but with very a modern day comfort. From the time you walk in, you are greeted with some of the friendliest people I have met. The front desk personnel were friendly and suggested things we could do to make our stay in Washington enjoyable. When we got to our room, we noticed that attention to detail made you think you had stepped back in time, but everything is up to date, comfortable and charming. I give very high marks to the beds and bedding. The beds provided a wonderful night's sleep and the bedding was top notch. The TV is also large and is great as was the WiFi.

The shower was done in subway tiles and quite large. Plenty of hot water and soft towels. The rest of the bathroom facilities were equally as nice.

The breakfast offered was adequate. I would have liked to see more local fare included in the breakfast-local doughnuts, bagels, etc

Overall, you cannot go wrong by staying in this hotel. It is a small boutique hotel in the heart of historic Washington, MO and the historic downtown is just steps from your door. Great Downtown with art galleries, small shops. Also, the Amtrak station is just down the street.

I stayed here for a few nights on a work trip, and I thought it was a very cute hotel! The hotel is totally updated in the actual rooms, with marble finishes, nice bedding, flat screen TVs, etc. The only thing the room does not have is a closet. They offer a little rack of hangers on the wall, but no actual closet. It worked fine for me, but if you had a lot of clothes to hang up, you'd be left with some in your suitcase. This hotel is above a bar/restaurant, and for 2 of my 3 nights the noise level was almost not noticeable. On the one night it was noisey, I found that they had a staff birthday party, and it was done by 10:30pm. So, I assume this was a non-traditional night. Overall, very cute hotel, with extremely nice staff.
