BB Drivers needed for Win10 - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

Update: Thanks everybody, all great advice, got it going, deleted the original download off laptop, deleted the installed program, downloaded again, for extra effort I rebooted laptop, then did the install while making sure everything was checked yes for install and I'm golden now!

OP: I have Win 10 now on my laptop, I installed bb desktop, but even the when I plug USB from Passport to Laptop, and it beeps and says "Device Connected to Computer' on phone. The phone doesn't appear in Window File Explorer. So I assume I need to manually install bb device drivers? maybe? So any help will be appreciated so that I can use Desktop and see the phone in File Explorer.

Believe or not, but the newest BB10 drivers are packaged with the Priv drivers.

Believe it or not I can NOT get those drivers to work with current release Win10 1709 build 16299.248
I have tried 3 different pc's now - all on 1709. Only option is to find a win8 or win7 OS.

Windows has a win10 download you can install to a USB, if you try a reformat..(if you have backups or just sync with a browser/services) and boot from the USB while OFFLINE, then powershell the garbage off, and then install a fresh copy of link from blackberries downloads it should work out. Can you uninstall the ones you have, and try again?

I tried that and no success. However Link works so you can backup etc. But USB mass storage ie access to phone/media card via explorer is not available. Not a train smash but just annoying.

Atleast link is working, damn though.. one of my favourite things about them is usb mode. Can you sync witha web dav, oneDrive or Box at least? Thought Box was a little better once you learn it and what it can be a part of.

Don't know but doubt it if you can't see the storage as a drive. I gave up and using the kids Win7 laptop FTW.

Have kept my old HP running Win7 JUST so that I can transfer directly from USB to machine

To transfer original file copies from phone apps that will not save directly to a memory card

And all because I have this same bull**** problem

Spent days & days trying to address it & cost me weeks of work

I’ve never had a problem using Windows8.1 or 10 with Link.

You do need to enable SMB v1 to get some things to work but this is a security risk whether you’re on 7 or 10 so should be disabled as a mater of course once you finish working with your phone anyway.

Thank you. Trying this now but to re-iterate the issue isn't getting Link to connect, its having access to the drives, maybe getting them "mapped & mounted" so I can access them is clearer terminology

Have separately installed the latest drivers I can find but still no luck

Would appreciate any other tips you may have otherwise thx for the above

The SMB v1 enabled should allow you to see the drives, backup and sync works without it enabled.

    Exactly.

The mounting of device memory, and sd card if installed, as network drives is dependent on SMB v1 being enabled in Windows.

    Thank you both

I have to become literate in SMBs & powershells etc fairly quickly to be able to look into this but I'm on it

    I love my Z10

    I love this company

Just EXTREMELY poor vision & leadership which is why they are where they are

They were done as a smartphone power the moment bandwidth became more available and no one wanted to pay BIS fees anymore.

Nothing management did or didn't do would have changed the final outcome.

You can turn this on and off in the control panel under programs and features, then in the left hand panel turn windows features on and off, scroll down to the SMB v1 and check the relevant box. You will need to restart the computer for it to take effect.

This is much easier than using powershell and much less risky than messing about in the registry.

Don’t forget to turn it off again when you’re finished using it.
