Digby Brown Solicitors confirm end of principal sponsorship

Digby Brown Solicitors has today announced the end of its principal sponsorship of St Mirren after three seasons.

Digby Brown Solicitors - one of Scotland's most recognised legal brand specialising in personal injury and employment law - commenced their first year of sponsorship with the Saints ahead of season 2021/22. Showcasing their logo on both our home and away jerseys, Digby Brown have been a part of an exciting and historic journey alongside the club over the past three seasons.

In 2022, Digby Brown strengthened its commitment to the club through a landmark kit deal which saw the Women's Team and Youth Academy wearing the same strip as the Men's First Team – this deal was believed to be a first in top flight Scottish football history.

After the second season of sponsorship, Digby Brown announced that it was ‘on for the hat-trick’ with the club - continuing their principal sponsorship for the third year in a row and committing for a second year to the kit deal which saw the Women's Team and Youth Academy wearing the same strip as the Men's First Team.

Fraser Oliver, Chief Executive at Digby Brown, said: "We’d like to extend our sincerest thanks to everyone at St Mirren, and all the fans, for their support of the sponsorship across the three years.

It's been great fun being involved, not only in terms of the team's performance but also in the community-driven initiatives and projects we've joined together to complete which echo our shared values of inclusivity and teamwork.

"I can say with confidence that the bonds forged between Digby Brown, St Mirren and Paisley will endure long beyond the final whistle."

Keith Lasley, Chief Operating Officer at St Mirren FC, added: “On behalf of St Mirren Football Club, we want to thank Digby Brown for their support as principal sponsors over the last three seasons.

"The relationship has been successful for both parties and we’ve really enjoyed working with Digby Brown. They have been hugely engaging throughout the sponsorship with the third year ‘going for the hat-trick’ announcement video starring youth team and women’s team players a highlight.

Both St Mirren and Digby Brown share many of the same values within our organisations and we hope to continue working together in some form over the coming years."

Season Tickets 2024/25 | Finance Options

Introducing new finance options

We encourage the purchase of season tickets if you regularly attend matches because the savings made on walk-up prices are significant. However, we know season tickets are a big financial commitment and have introduced a new payment option that will allow you to spread the cost of your season ticket. This option can only be accessed if you are renewing your ticket online, strictly no sales through the Ticket Office.

  • Capital Credit Union

We have partnered with Capital Credit Union to provide a simple and ethical finance option to help spread the cost of your season ticket.

To take advantage of this, you will need to be:

    • 18 years or older.
    • Able to make regular repayments by Direct Debit.
    • In regular employment (minimum of 16 hours per week) including self-employment, or in a permanent residence with your spouse/partner who is in regular employment.
    • Have a debit card or Credit Card in your name and registered to your address and have a bank or building society current account.

Finance is subject to status. Terms and conditions apply.

You will need to complete a full finance application (this may include a credit check) with Capital Credit Union, after you have provided your details for your season ticket.

Finance is provided by Capital Credit Union, a passionate and award-winning community-owned bank, who prioritise members over profit. Capital was established in 1989 and is one of the largest ethical finance providers in the UK, with over 29,000 members and assets of £44m. They are authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority.

Further, we continue to offer interest free payment plans if you do not wish to take up the finance option but would still like to spread the cost of your ticket. If you wish to renew your season ticket with finance in place, please visit the ticket office. This payment option will be spread over 4 months, with the first payment in July. Please note, if you have defaulted on a payment previously, you will not be eligible to use the standing order facility through the club.

Please note, Seasons Tickets bought through standing orders via the Ticket Office will be at Full Price, not the Early Bird Renewal price and can only be purchased from the ticket office.

Finance Option

If you wish to take up the finance option via Capital Credit Union (CCU) please use the promotional code CREDIT in order to zero your basket. Before you do this it is imperative that you take a note of your total order. On the confirmation page we ask that you click on the link to take you to CCU’s application page to complete the payment process.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are not planning to apply for finance then do not enter anything in the promotional code box. We will not be able to confirm your seat renewal until you have been through the application process for finance or paid in full. If you are unsuccessful in your finance application, please contact the ticket office to make alternative arrangements for payment in order to keep you seat secured.

  • CCU Finance Option

We are delighted to be working with our new Club partner Capital Credit Union (CCU) to providing an affordable finance option for our supporters.

Thanks to CCU, supporters will be able to split the payments of their Season Ticket across nine, eight, seven or six months. A low APR of 11.6% is applied to the total price of your Season Ticket (total basket value) and will be split equally across the payment term that you select.

St Mirren is In Search of Host Families for Youth Development Players

Do you own a house within Renfrewshire and think you would be able to accommodate our youth development players aged between 16 and 19 years old?

St Mirren Football Club continues to cultivate local national and international talent to achieve the best results possible. The club wants to welcome development players and have them stay in top conditions close by to the St Mirren Training Complex in Paisley.

Learn more by emailing a covering letter with contact details and suitability for the role to: allan.mcmanus@stmirren.com

Location

Accommodation must be a short distance to the club’s Training Complex at Bathgo Avenue, Ralston, PA1 3EA and have easy access to public transport.

Accommodation requirements

  • One double bedroom/twin room
  • Access to WiFi, storage and a TV
  • Personal space for their evening meals and personal laundry

The young players require a good quality home environment on either a temporary or full-time basis. The requirement ranges from hosting trialists for several days or weeks at a time, to longer term placements for up to 48 weeks per year, for several nights per week. This may also involve players who require permanent accommodation from further afield choosing to play at St Mirren.

All we ask from you is to provide a safe, welcoming and homely environment for our young players. You will play your part in nurturing the development players as they transition from youth football to professional football and help them rest and recuperate after a day’s training or school. This can be a difficult time for young players settling into a different city or country and you can make all the difference.

Reimbursement
We require host families who are flexible, committed and understand that there may be times when a room is not required, or a room is needed at short notice.

The football club recognises the commitment required from the family and will pay an all-inclusive payment which covers all the costs of the arrangement when a young player has been placed.

Email your covering letter to: allan.mcmanus@stmirren.com

Terms and conditions: All host family members over 16 will be subject to a Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme criminal record check (PVG) and the household will undergo a rigorous suitability assessment of both the accommodation and people living there. Regular checks may be undertaken by the football club.  The players will be issued with guidelines for living with host families, to manage their expectations as will the host families be issued with guidelines.

Stephen Robinson looks back on season 2023/24

With 2023/24 at an end, manager Stephen Robinson reflects on a season in which we secured European football for the first time in 37 years.

Ellery Balcombe joins on season-long loan from Brentford

St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the loan signing of Ellery Balcombe from Brentford FC subject to international clearance.

The goalkeeper becomes our second signing of the summer as he joins on loan from the English Premier League side until the end of the season.

A product of Brentford’s academy, Ellery has been capped by England at U18, U19 and U20 level. After impressing for Brentford B, Ellery earned his promotion to the Bees’ first-team squad in 2018 and has gained valuable playing experience with loan spells at Boreham Wood, Viborg FF, Doncaster Rovers, Burton Albion, Bromley, Crawley Town and Bristol Rovers. The goalkeeper has made 72 senior career appearances, keeping 20 clean sheets, across English League One & League Two, the National League and the Danish second tier and signed a new four-year contract with the Bees last October.

The 24-year-old made his Brentford debut in their penalty shoot-out win over Newport County in the EFL Cup in August 2023, saving two penalties in the shoot-out as Brentford progressed.

Ellery joins Shaun Rooney in signing up with the Buddies ahead of season 2024/25.

Speaking to stmirren.com, manager Stephen Robinson said: "Ellery is someone I’ve really liked.

I’ve watched Ellery for a while. His distribution is very good, he’s commanding in his box and I believe he’s someone that will enhance our already good record of goalkeepers."

"We were keen to keep Zach [Hemming] but we spoke to Middlesborough and he's their player so we have to respect that. He'll go back for pre-season and fight for a number two jersey there, but we already knew that would come.

Ellery was somebody that we had been speaking to and keeping close watch on.  He was our first choice to join and we’re delighted to have that over the line. It gives us a real base and our squad is taking shape nicely now."

St Mirren goes head-to-head with A-list clubs PSG, Manchester City and Manchester United for top business awards

St Mirren Football Club has been recognised for its unique partnership with young person charity, Kibble, as it takes on iconic football clubs from across the world at this year’s Football Business Awards.

The club, which qualified for European football last week for the first time in 37 years, has been grouped in the same category as Premier League teams Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham, French title winners Paris Saint-Germain and Spain’s football top flight La Liga, as it celebrates the work that has been achieved in collaboration with Kibble.

National charity Kibble purchased part of St Mirren FC in 2020, alongside St Mirren Independent Supporters Association (SMISA), in a deal that is thought to be the first of its kind in the UK. The agreement created the only fan-owned premiership club which is also run in partnership with one of the country’s biggest charities.

As part of the deal, Kibble provides St Mirren with a substantial amount of support and commercial expertise to help the Football Club grow as a business and together, they create more opportunities for young people.

At the awards, hosted in London on 24 May, St Mirren has also been named as a finalist for its sustainability initiatives and will go head-to-head with current Premier League champions Manchester City, and fellow English club sides Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham, Norwich City, and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

As part of its sustainable focus, St Mirren is driving a number of initiatives across the club to ensure that the organisation is a good neighbour that gives back to the community, as well as a legacy for generations to come. It has set out to ambitions to be the first carbon neutral football club in Scotland, while its multi-award-winning programme Street Stuff provides a range of weekly activities which are free to young people throughout Renfrewshire.

Keith Lasley, chief operating officer at St Mirren FC, said: "It's a really proud moment to be nominated alongside so many well-known and successful clubs across Europe, underlining the innovative partnership model that has shown great success in recent years. Good luck to all our fellow nominees.

"Our overall objective is to be the best community-centred development football club in Scotland and we are extremely proud of the progress made to date.

"Alongside Kibble, we have strengthened youth employment opportunities and our set strategy, vision and mission confirms our dedication to sustainable business growth and securing the club’s future."

Jim Gillespie, CEO of Kibble, said: 'We’re delighted to be recognised in such iconic company and it is a tremendous achievement that underlines the significance of the partnership.

"The innovative collaboration between the two organisations provides more opportunities for vulnerable young people who are given the chance to gain valuable experience within a large, functioning operation to ensure training and future employment opportunities.

"For our young people, having access to a premiership football team has invigorated them to get excited about the world of work. And, for us, there is no better testament to the partnership’s tremendous success."

2023/24 Squad Update

Following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, the club can now provide supporters with a squad update.

The core of the squad remains under contract with a new signing already added in defender Shaun Rooney who has agreed a deal until summer 2026, while forward James Scott’s initial loan converts into a permanent two-year deal.

Ryan Flynn has been offered a player/coach role while offers have also been made to Luke Kenny and Gallagher Lennon.

Sadly, the club says goodbye to Keanu Baccus, Charles Dunne, Alex Greive and Ryan Strain as all leave the club following the expiry of their contracts.

Keanu Baccus joined from Western Sydney Wanderers in July 2022 and made St Mirren history just a few months later when he became the first ever Saint to play at a World Cup after being called up by Australia for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar where he faced off against Lionel Messi and eventual winners Argentina. The midfielder made 72 appearances at the Buddies with four goals and has made the move down south to Mansfield Town in English League One.

Keanu's fellow countryman, Ryan Strain joined in June 2022 following a spell in Israel at Maccabi Haifa. The 27-year-old had a family link to St Mirren with his grandfather, Gerry Baker, having played a huge role in our 1959 Scottish Cup winning side. Ryan made 64 appearances in his time in Paisley, scoring five goals.

Charles Dunne signed for Saints in June 2021 and was a huge personality on and off the park. The 31-year-old looked set to depart last summer but agreed a one-year extension to spend another season with the club. In his time at the Buddies, Charles made 91 appearances and scored one goal.

New Zealand striker Alex Greive made 76 appearances and scored 9 goals after joining from Birkenhead United in January 2022. Greive spent the last few months on loan at Dundee United, helping the Tayside outfit to promotion from the Scottish Championship.

All four have made telling contributions and we would like to place on record our sincere thanks to all for their respective efforts during their time at St Mirren. Everyone at the club wishes them the best of luck in their future careers.

Jaden Brown, Zach Hemming and Hyeokkyu Kwon all return to their respective parent clubs. Jaden joined on loan in January from English League One side Lincoln City and made eight appearances at Saints.

Goalkeeper Zach established himself as number one after signing on a season-long loan from Middlesborough and played every match last season, keeping 15 clean sheets.

Korean Hyeokkyu made nine appearances on loan from Celtic before a hamstring injury ended his season early. The club thanks Jaden, Zach and Hyeokkyu for their efforts at St Mirren and wish them the best at their parent clubs.

The club is continuing the hard work to add to the core of players already under contract for next season.

Under Contract 2024/25

James Bolton, Shaun Rooney, Scott Tanser, Richard Taylor, Mark O’Hara, Jonah Ayunga, Mikael Mandron, Conor McMenamin, Greg Kiltie, Alex Gogic, James Scott, Caolan Boyd-Munce, Toyosi Olusanya, Marcus Fraser, Lewis Jamieson, Kieran Offord, Peter Urminsky, Fraser Taylor, Ethan Sutherland, Elvis Bwomono.

Offers Made

Ryan Flynn, Luke Kenny and Gallagher Lennon.

Leaving the club

Keanu Baccus, Charles Dunne, Alex Greive and Ryan Strain.

Returning to parent club

Jaden Brown, Zach Hemming and Hyeokkyu Kwon.
