What travelers are saying
- Pat931Hamburg, Germany109 contributionsOn a recent visit to Greiz to see the Art Nouveau buildings on the European Art Nouveau route, I stumbled on Haus Schulenberg in Gera and was very excited to visit it. Renovated in the early 2000s, after falling into decline during the East German (DDR) period, it was renovated and opened to the public in 2013. This is a gem to find in this area by such a famous Belgian Art Nouveau architect and designer as Henry van der Velde and they have done an excellent job with the renovation of the interior of the house. If you are keen on architecture, this is a must to visit if you are in the area.Written June 11, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karla SOjai, CA8 contributionsFrom the Autobahn (#:4) getting there by car, including finding a nearby parking lot took us about 30 minutes. Parking was a little a problem, we had to walk about 15 minutes from the parking lot to the entrance. Finding it was quite a hassle. There are no signs (at least, we did not see any). Finally with a map (from a visitors center) we found it. We liked the little tour (+/-20 minutes). Very interesting!
We would not recommend a visit if your (even slighly) disabled.Written August 1, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is nice outside and inside. Inside are pretty modest but nice. Comfortable seats.Written December 16, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - vladimir70Odesa, Ukraine229 contributionsOrangerie has paintings from local artist Otto Dix but not only. It is located in a very nice setting. Visit all halls (on both sides of the passage in the middle of the building). It does not take much time but is fun.Written December 16, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Luis Alberto Sell48 contributionsAlthough the tram and bus service is excellent, the whole city of Gera can be reached on foot. The atmosphere is very calm and welcoming, and the people are very kind and eager to help, especially if you do not speak German. Some areas of the city still maintain a very local and industrial aspect of the past.Written March 25, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
