Fuling Food Industrial Park officially started operation after a grand inauguration ceremony was organized in Nansha district of Guangzhou on Wednesday, indicating this Guangdong provincial capital was still a prime destination for offshore investment.

The park is another key foreign-funded project following the opening of Germany's ZF Guangzhou Technical Center, the fourth factory of Japan's Panasonic Electronics and Autoliv's Guangzhou New Factory in the previous months.

The park is jointly funded by Louis Dreyfus company (LDC), a Europe-based merchant firm involved in agriculture, food processing, international shipping and finance, Donlink Group and Guangdong Haid Group Co.

LDC's Chairperson Margarita Louis-Dreyfus and Michael Gelchie, chief executive officer of LDC, expressed their confidence in the good development trend, superior business environment and broad market prospects of Guangzhou.

"I will take Guangzhou as an important destination in the global strategic layout of LDC and actively increase presence in Guangzhou market, expand investment in the southern metropolis and promote a higher level of mutual benefit and win-win situation with Guangzhou city government in the months to come, said the chairperson, adding now it is the right time to invest in Guangzhou.

Jerrity Chen, chairman of Fuling Food Technology Co Ltd, said China is a key market for Louis Dreyfus Company , both in relation to our core merchandizing activity, which has made our company a global force, and to our strategy to move further downstream in the value chain, closer to end consumers, and diversify into more value-added product lines.

"The Chinese government has long been committed to promoting economic structural transformation and innovation-driven development, both of which are conducive to cultivating a better investment environment and new potential business opportunities," said Chen who is also Head of North Asia Region at Louis Dreyfus Company.

The Chinese government has long been committed to promoting economic structural transformation and innovation-driven development, both of which are conducive to cultivating a better investment environment and new potential business opportunities, he said.

"LDC is therefore committed to continued investment and growth in China, including through expanded cooperation with Chinese partners, to address growing and evolving domestic consumer demand," he said.

In 2023 alone, LDC has invested in two key projects in collaboration with Chinese partners, including the establishment of Fuling Food Industry Park in Nansha and the addition of further crushing capacity at our oilseeds processing facility in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province.

Guo Yonghang, Party secretary and mayor of Guangzhou, said LDC is a leading global agricultural product trading and processing enterprise, with diversified business spanning the entire value chain from farms to dining tables.

"The cooperation space and potential between the two parties is enormous," he said with meeting with Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, Michael Gelchie and relate senior executives from LDC in Guangzhou.
