We stayed for 2 nights with our 3 children over MLK weekend. This was our first experience with this resort. I would agree with another review that this particular area (our room was 605) is outdated & unfortunately is the only reason we didn’t give them 5 stars. Otherwise, everything else about this resort was top notch. We’ve also stayed at Boyne & I would come back here - I would just choose a much nicer room & room location. Compared to Boyne - they have more options for skiing (more novice options as well as intermediate in addition to advanced) & the private lessons (Charlotte was awesome!) are well worth it if you can swing them! The kids classes/club are also amazing! They also have tubing & dog sledding & indoor top golf & nightly activities & snowboarding - oh & a skiing obstacle coarse! My older (10 & 12) girls loved that! Overall, we’ll be coming back & looking forward to it! We’ll just get a different room & location. Our kids are excited & so are we!

Excellent price for their Super Sunday promotion, with ski rental, lifts, and lessons at $33 (helmet is an additional $15, so bring your own). Ski instructors were awesome and seemed to be everywhere, which made me feel comfortable letting my child ski on his own. The ski check in and rental area at Cedar Village seemed to be run exclusively by teenagers, but hey, it’s Covid-era. Tiny outdoor fire pit area with no seating outside whatsoever at this part of the resort, and no set up for eating en plein aire either. All that is forgivable because the runs are fantastic for the entire family, especially for intermediate level (kid) skiers-plenty of fun and also just challenging enough. We did not cross-country ski, but next time we will try it because the property is wooded, hilly, and absolutely giant at 5,000 acres!

Thank you for the feedback. The response to our Super Sundays program has been wonderful. Many skiers are saying it's been years since they've been on skis, and it's because of this great value. Once the pandemic precautions can be reduced/lessened, the dining and fire pit area will be more hospitable. We hope you'll have the opportunity to enjoy our Nordic trails soon. The recent lake effect snow has made a huge difference in the trail system. Thank you.

We stayed at Summit Village and skied Sun/Mon. The mountain was not as covid safe as we would have hoped. There were signs posted but it wasn't being enforced like at other resorts. Lots of people without masks in lift lines. Unlike at other resorts, the lift operators were never asking people to put their masks up, only occasionally were there ski patrol standing by to enforce. Sunday was very crowded as to be expected on a weekend. What wasn't expected was hords of unsupervised and unruly 10 year old boys. Must have been great for their parents to get a break from them and let them become the problem of everyone else trying to enjoy their own experience. It would be great for Schuss to take a look at how other mountains in the area set up their lift lines and make some improvements so there is better flow and less cutting. Don't be fooled like me by the Schuss website and think that there are 2 mountains, Schuss and Summit because Summit is defunct. We stayed at Summit thinking we'd ski there only to have been duped. The facilities are fairly run down. There is a reason you don't see a lot of photos on their website. Our room was cleanish but had a slightly funky smell. For the rate, I wasn't expecting 5 star accommodations. Monday was a far better day on the slopes. Well groomed, way less people. They do have great runs, many skill options, decent lifts. The parking is great for returning to the car for breaks. I'd return for a 1 day ski day on a weekday but I will likely never stay at Summit again.

We appreciate that you took the time, but this review is hardly accurate. All season our ticket checkers were at the lift base(s) reminding guests to pull their masks over their noses, etc. Our efforts to operate safely throughout the pandemic have been thorough from our CEO to our line-level staff. To say otherwise is not accurate. Secondly, from the onset of our preseason communications, we were very specific that the Summit slopes would not operate during the 20/21 season because our resources would be shifted and increased at Schuss to provide better service toward our pandemic efforts. Summit slopes are expected to re-open in 2021/22. Last, to call The Lakeview Hotel "run down" is hardly fair. Perhaps its "classic ski lodge" décor is not your style (nor is it mine!) . But many would say the opposite, that a pristine, modern city hotel would seem out of place. We understand that this season was not normal so expectations were across the board. We wish you well and welcome you and all guests.

We booked the stay for 2 nights with a big group of 160 people. This was our first experience with this resort. Unfortunately, due to an emergency situation I was unable to make the trip. The resort charged me $200 despite overbooking the place. When I called the resort to talk to them about cancellation charges, I was told that I had checked in and out despite me not being present. I was then told that there were no outstanding charges. A week later, I was sent an email by a woman named Nancy, who charged me $170. When I called her, she was very rude and would not hear me out. The staff is very disorganized and I would not recommend this place!

Stayed here for a night & should've just slept in our car. The room was disgusting. Smelled like mildew. Granted we had our 15 lb dog soo we had to have a pet friendly room. But for someone who is paying extra for that you wouldn't expect them to put you in the worst room possible. The pillows were disgusting. The bathroom wasn't clean. Now found out we brought fleas home from here. Wouldn't suggest getting a pet friendly room at all!!

This is a review of the resort in general, not our condo. We stayed in the Sawtooth condos which are located near the Lakeview hotel. It's a very spread out resort. The restaurants that were walkable were understaffed and unable to serve us. We were there for a week and this happened twice. The other days they were closed due to staffing issues. So the choices of eating out there are limited. The golf was great. Downtown Bellaire is small, but nice. Alot of the property seems dated. For instance, the Lakeview Hotel lobby smells musty and old and needs work on the outside.

Stayed at the Schuss Mountain from December 27 to 29. I understand that customer service has stayed in the past, however, when you call maintenance guy twice you would expect him to come and fix the problem. Since there was no show we wanted to go to the pool and enjoy a hot tub. I think the name speaks for itself. The hot tub was absolutely cold. I asked a worker to call a maintenance and she called him twice. We waited for 1,5 h, he never showed up. Nice service. We will never come back here again, and tell our friends to pick a different resort for skiing because the people who work here just simply DON’T CARE!!!!

I stayed here in March to ski at Schuss Mountain. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and quiet. It was great to wake up and hit the first chair of the morning. The restaurant was very good. The food and service were both excellent. This was my first trip during the pandemic and I felt very safe at the hotel and resort. Highly recommend!

They’ll book your massage. Take your CC and reserve it. And they’ll cancel you the day of, without any reservations or care. Just a little sorry to ruin your schedule and not let you replan your day or a 24 hr grace. And not even an apology. But you learn to go elsewhere.

First of all I know this was 2 years ago, I would like to know how the Managment team at Schuss Village-Shanty Creek Resorts hadled this customer complaint. It has not been our experience but I have some of these things have happend to others that have stayed here: “IF YOU LIKE TERRIBLE TREATMENT...STAY HERE!” Reviewed October 25, 2012 via mobile Wanted to let you know that my husband & I checked out late last night. We have since checked into The Grand Traverse Resort & Spa. We purchased a Groupon for your hotel. We had planned to stay for four nights. Sunday when we arrived my husband spoke to the front desk about our upgraded room's maintenance issues. These concerns were taking care of promptly on Monday Morning. 1) Furnace Filter had not been changed since May of 2012 2) Fan in the bathroom broken 3) Hair Dryer not working (Resulted in my hair being wet for dinner in your restaurant) 4) Spa Tub would not drain. Water sat in the tub till maintenance could come the following morning. Yesterday, we orderd room service. We left the room around noon, came back around 6pm. When we arrived back to the room. Our meals were sitting in the hallway across from our room. Six Hours later. I called the front desk, spoke with a front desk girl ******* (actual name omitted from email) She was difficult to speak too, was the most rude ,unprofessional individual I have encountered in a long time. During our conversation she told me that WE seemed to have allot of issues with our stay, AND how did we know that was our food in the hallway? I then asked her to call the hotel manager at home ... She said SURE & HUNG UP ON ME! I called her back told her to get the tray & did not appreciate her sarcastic tone. My husband & I took a nap found THE SAME TRAY IN THE HALLWAY 3 HOURS LATER. WE CHECKED OUT @ 10 PM AT NIGHT!!! This was the ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED!!!! I have been a regional manager in the service industry for over 15 years. This is simply NOT how you do business. I want some compansation for this unbelievable experience. I also feel this young lady who is running your front desk should have repercussions to deal with Customer Service training to start with! I would love to discuss further in detail if you so choose. I have contacted Groupon about this dreadful stay. Thank-you for your time advance! (No management is on premises when GM goes home for the day) This email was sent to the GM & Director of operations at this resort. NO CALL BACK FROM EITHER GENTLEMAN. Groupon However did contact me & compensated us for the terrible treatment & stay. Won't EVER do business with this resort! GROUPON IS A STAND UP CUSTOMER SERVICE BASED COMPANY! THANK-YOU GROUPON!!!!
