We booked a castle tour which turned out to be a fab idea. We had the amazing Ann as our tour guide. She was great with the kids (boys 12 & 9) holding their interest and involving them in her amazing stories about the history of Lincoln Castle. There was humour in her tour too which made it feel less formal. Ann your an amazing volunteer and great company. Thank you for making the family from West Sussex enjoy their time at the castle.

Well worth a visit..If you can go when an aircraft is doing taxy rides, great for photos, you have to book months in advance if you want a Lancaster .

Really nice attraction. It clearly needs the funds that it gets to survive but its doing a good job of rescuing and rehabilitating seals.
It also has the biggest goat I have ever seen!

Interesting Exposition of About 150 years of Lincolnshire Life.

Free admission and parking (but only about 20 spaces).

My wife took me to the IBCC for a belated birthday breakfast. As usual it was superb. Service was spot on and very quick. Prices are acceptable in these tough times

    Like Arnie, I'll be back

Visited here whilst staying locally, what a find, this place is amazing so much to see. The house is lovely a bit dark in places to preserve furniture and paintings etc, really enjoyed looking around, the gardens are stunning I particularly liked the Italian garden, the orangery is nice some beautiful flowers and plants, the grounds have some lovely walks it was nice to see the deer and sheep roaming about, could of stayed longer but we needed to get back.
Before we left we visited the stable restaurant we always like to eat at NT its a bit expensive but food is always nice, today we both had a sandwich with crisps and a cold drink each, hubby also had a cake, the bill was about ÂŁ19 but worth every penny, staff are always pleasant in these establishments and today they were all busy scurrying around to serve, deliver food and clean tables, no complaints from me.
Can't wait to visit another place soon.

Had a lovely day at Burghley. The children (aged 4 and 5) really enjoyed the garden of surprises and the sculpture garden. The adventure play area is really good but a bit big for us. It was nice that there was always a member of staff keeping an eye on the play area. My little girl hurt herself and was upset and the member of staff very kindly made sure she was ok and got her a sticker to cheer her up.
The gardens are beautiful. Lots of great picnic spots.

Saw all animals up close. Clean and tidy zoo. Reasonable price. Excellent selection of birds. Restaurant offers small range of food and very high prices so bring a picnic. Toilet facilities also rather poor.

A fun day out was had by 2 teenagers after being dropped off while I walked the dog before meeting back up with them as you can also take your dog round. Market within the island with a variety of shops. Short queues for the rides and one price includes ride photos if you remember to scan your wristbands. Lots of choices from fantastic rollercoasters to rides for smaller children as well as crazy golf and indoor activities. Would definitely go again!

Great for a short trip to fill some time. The tickets are cheap so expect the park to be smaller than a zoo. The park itself is well maintained and clean and the enclosures seem a fair size and quality for the animals. You can tell the staff care about the animals which is also lovely to see. There is great signage around the park too to ensure you do not miss any of the animals. We really liked the signs to follow as you can easily end up back at the beginning without seeing everything. The animal feeds were good and the staff took their time to talk about the animals in great depth which was a nice touch. There are quite a few empty enclosures which is one of the only downsides. The cafe on site was nice but I would say on the expensive side for what we got. Definitely take your own food and drinks to avoid the sting of expensive drinks and snacks. All in all a nice trip but don’t expect a day, 2 hours at most.

Really interesting, but probably better on a fine day as the roof is open for views which are spectacular. We even had a fly past from Coningsby. Lots of room for children to play on the grass and a great place to have a picnic. Lots of stairs so not suitable for everyone

Visited on a gloomy and damp day. Having said that, it wasn't my first time visiting. Still managed to see 24 different species of bird, a fox, a plethora of seals off the coast, and my husband saw some deer too. In only a few hours. There are a few interspersed hides, which gave some respite from the damp and were peaceful. There is so much to explore, so we will be back again. It was, however, disappointing that the café closed by 4 on a Saturday, there was one loo in service and the car park is cash only, so there are some improvements to be made... which would have given a 5 star rating..

Excellent place to visit and accessible for scooter users. I only went because my husband wanted to go, I thought I'd be bored. How wrong could I be! I thoroughly enjoyed myself. There was so many interesting things to see and I even got to climb up onto Tom the ancient steam engine. The staff (of volunteers) were very friendly, chatty and knowledgeable, making the whole experience even more interesting. Afterwards we enjoyed a extremely tasty cheese burger in the cafe, I just wished I'd had room for a slice of the rather delicious looking cakes they had on offer. All together a great day out

It was raining when we arrived, so a visit indoors was the obvious start.
The welcome staff did just that. The unprepossessing entrance gives into one end of a hall, and we were made welcome with the sensation of visiting, say, an elderly relative for the first time. We didn't know each other, yet, but were nevertheless pleased to see each other.
The audio tour was explained, a little of the background to the Hall and ownership given and we were given free rein to wander around. My query about the table was answered fully and completely, and led to more explanation about carvings, which had a distinctly Gibbons-esque quality from a distance, but were made by a former owner.

The table, it turned out, was recent, and from a single fallen oak, yielding a one piece top around 6 metres in length. The whole with cunning breadboard ends and pleasantly chunky underframe on turned pillars.

The rest of the Hall is full of interest, and made the more so by the audio introduction to each room being made by the owners Claire and James, with their comments and reminiscences 'We used to roller skate in this room' lends a very human level of appreciation totally missing from many similar locations. Knowledgable and approachable room stewards who were happy to explain and discuss details.

The rain stopped, we toured the exceptionally soggy formal gardens, which are really worth another visit when the season has moved on and the plantings are flourishing.
