Get ready to sob like Bruce Willis. HBO Max on Wednesday released the trailer for its highly anticipated Friends reunion, giving us our first glimpse of the emotional event — you know, from the front side this time.
Highlights from the trailer include: Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry kicking back in their leather chairs, the entire cast playing another dangerous trivia game (with David Schwimmer as quizmaster), the return of the Holiday Armadillo, and a table read of “The One Where Everybody Finds Out.”
Naturally, the reunion (which drops Thursday, May 27) also tackles the long-running question of whether Ross and Rachel were really on a break when he slept with the girl from the copy place — and it might surprise you to learn where everyone stands today.
The unscripted event will offer an emotional look back at the Emmy winning series, which originally ran from 1994 to 2004 on NBC. All six cast members — Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, LeBlanc, Perry and Schwimmer — are executive-producing the special, along with original series EPs Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane, as well as Ben Winston (The Late Late Show With James Corden), who is on board to direct. The special was shot on Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank, Calif.
Guests will include: David Beckham, Justin Bieber, BTS, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Elliott Gould, Kit Harington, Larry Hankin, Mindy Kaling, Thomas Lennon, Christina Pickles, Tom Selleck, James Michael Tyler, Maggie Wheeler, Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai.

Nope. This and Sex and City never were for me.
..
Watched the trailer to see what the hype was about.
The hypes not for you if the original was not something you liked. Obviously you are not going to like it if you didn’t like the original series.
I don’t know, if the reunion looked compelling, I’d have watched it.
.
But, yes ,it looks like it’s just something for the die hard fans. It’s cool that they get to enjoy it though.
.
If you’re a big fan it’s good you get to relive and enjoy one of your favorites.
5/27/2021 from Deadline’s review: “‘Friends: The Reunion’ Review: Much Hyped, Filler-Packed HBO Max Special Is For Hard-Core Fans Only”
.
I called it from the trailer. Lots of hype but ultimately only for die hards. I feel vindicated.
Ian no one cares about what you feel. If you feel sad, maybe trump can console you.
What does what Ian said have to do with Donald Trump? TDS is alive and well and living in Jack’s body.
I have to admit that when the show originally aired, I watched every single Thursday. When it was added to Netflix years later, I gave it a rewatch and I questioned why I liked it in the 90s. The characters were awful, and VERY whiney. It was painful.
I like how they are coming back and just revisiting the success of the show and what they accomplished. If they would have just done a new episode of “where are they now”, I don’t think it would feel as impactful compared to reviewing their legacy
… but why James Cordon? Why?
It will be EPIC – can’t wait 👍🏻👍🏻
my thoughts exactly!!!
he is so over the top and annoying
“Friends: The Reunion” is produced, in part, by production company Fulwell 73.
James Corden joined the company as a full partner in 2017, according to their website.
To bad those of us who cannot afford those streaming services and who have watched every episode of friends will not be able to watch the friends reunion on HBO Max
If you get HBO, the app is free.
I get HBO Max free though AT&T, though admittedly I’m not sure how much longer that’ll last now considering the WarnerMedia and Discovery merger.
Hi. If you really want to see this—just add HBO MAX for one day and then call your cable provider and remove it. The cost is $15 for a month or .50 a day. So you would be prorated for whatever you don’t use. I am not sure id that is the case of you just get the app. But thru ur tv provided you would be prorated.
So it isn’t a where are the characters now episode its a cast reunion? Thats cool, wishing it was an episode though too lol
Team TV Line can you confirm this Is still only an hour long special? Based on the trailer it looks like it is going to be longer than that.
2 hour special
Ok, after the last article about weird celeb guests on the reunion I was not looking forward to it, but the first clip of them playing the game made me a little more excited.
Looks like it will be fun. Realizing that the show can’t be all about the guest stars, there are a few more that would have been good to see – Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Bruce Willis, Paul Rudd, girl who played Emily, Morgan Fairchild, Kathleen Turner, Teri Garr
I hope I can see it! It looks fantastic! Such a fan of the show.
I went through the entire series a few years ago on Netflix. I still remember the iconic moments of the series. I’ll watch it for the nostalgic moments.

Expect for Matt LaBlanc everyone else looks the same…sorry Joey!

So there was The Fresh Prince reunion and now this one. I wonder what will be next?
Very upset we’ve waited this long just to have the cast reminisce about the show. Disappointed with the directors on this decision.
Then you haven’t been paying attention because this was never going to be a revival or a new episode of the series. The creators have been saying that will not happen for years, including when this reunion was announced.
They’ve said all along it was an unscripted reunion. Never once did they try to hide that fact. I don’t want another episode. It ended perfectly and I don’t want that to be ruined. They’d never please everyone with an actual new episode.
I prefer the revisiting of the show rather than a reboot. Much more genuine.
Eck , the guys haven’t age well
Another show that could not be made today.
I loved the show when it was on yet didn’t really care when they announced a reunion, but the trailer made me a little emotional and now I’m pretty excited! Looks fun.
I literally went thru my late 20’s and into my 30’s with this show. I had these 6 friends that I got to laugh with, cry with, yell at. I enjoyed all of you from start to finish. You all made this show every week year after year. Thank you
I always felt like Paul Rudd should´ve been the honorary seventh friend (which in a way he was by marrying Phoebe). He should have been part of this too.
The American love for James Corden is just bizarre.
How can they have this reunion? This show was clearly not WOKE enough. Given all that is going on Hollywood currently, shouldn’t Friends fall in the same category? There wasn’t a lead black actor in one of the best tv comedies in history.I would have assumed that Hollywood would be up in arms about that!! In fact, the same can be said about the other great sitcoms, Frasier, Seinfeld, Cheers…
Choose your battles I guess?
Agree 100%, people should also lookup how David Schwimmer wanted to do an all Black or all Asian version of Friends but did not know about Living Single. Nobody on the NBC side is going to admit that they copied Living Single.
IT was an okay show. It wasn’t as good as 3rd Rock from the Sun or Newsradio, but it was alright.
I absolutely love Friends. They are all awesome actors. Great show!!
Put on regular TV, can’t afford HBO
My adult children want a show or movie w the Rachel Monica Joey Chandler Phoebe and Ross to watch tte characters now it be about 2.5 hrs now question is PAL yours w your children main characters?
This looks awesome. I’m pleasantly surprised. The description sounded horrible. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Matt LeBlanc is a silver fox. Is he seeing anyone?
HBO Max? Sorry – apparently they don’t want a very big audience. My cable bill is already over $200/month without paying for all the extra channels! Guess I’m not going to see the reunion. Looks like if you’re a fan of the show, though, you’re going to have to sit through a ton of guest stars, too. Sounds like there’s going to be less of the Friends and more of the guests! Good luck!
