It's official: Cobra Kai season 6, the final entry in the hugely popular Netflix series, has a release date. Well, it has three – an unprecedented number for a Netflix TV Original, but we'll explain why Cobra Kai's final season is releasing in three parts a bit further on in this guide.

That's not all we'll cover about the last outing for one of the best Netflix shows ever made, either. Indeed, we'll also run you through everything else that we know about it before this particular dojo closes its doors to the public for the final time. That includes its first teasers, confirmed cast list, plot synopsis, and Cobra Kai's future on one the world's best streaming service.

Be advised, though: we're about to get into fullspoiler territory for Cobra Kai's first five seasons. If you aren't caught up on those installments, you'll want to bookmark this page, stream them ASAP, and then come back to find out more about Cobra Kai season 6. We can wait until you're done, young grasshopper.

Cobra Kai season 6 release date

As mentioned, Cobra Kai season 6 doesn't have just one or two launch dates. Indeed, the series will be releasing in three volumes between mid-2024 and an undisclosed date in 2025.

We knew that Cobra Kai's farewell season would arrive in some capacity this year, with Netflix revealing Cobra Kai would return in 2024 via a new release schedule update. The show's return was confirmed in an X/Twitter post on May 2, with season 6 part 1 confirmed to debut on July 18. Part 2 will premiere on the platform on November 28, with the final volume coming sometime next year.

That's not all, either. Cobra Kai's sixth season will be a mega 15 episode epic, meaning we'll be treated to five more episodes than the standard 10 that previous seasons have had. Start practising your crane kicks accordingly, everyone.

Cobra Kai season 6 trailer

Netflix hasn't delivered an official trailer for Cobra Kai season 6 yet, but it has shown off the first footage from its next installment in the form of a 35-second teaser.

Unveiled alongside the series' trio of season 6 launch dates, it teases an epic end to the comedy-drama martial arts show, with the likes of Johnny Lawrence, Daniel LaRusso, and Chozen preparing for one final fight with the students in tow. Hopefully, with Netflix's penchant for releasing proper trailers around a month before a new show debuts or a returning series, well, returns, we'll get a proper trailer in June.

Cobra Kai season 6 plot synopsis and speculation

Major spoilers follow for Cobra Kai up to and including its fifth season.

Here's the official albeit brief plot synopsis for Cobra Kai season 6, courtesy of Netflix: "Picking up with Cobra Kai eliminated from the Valley, our senseis and students must decide if and how they will compete in the Sekai Taikai – the world championships of karate."

Not much to go on, then, but there are plot of plot threads that need to be resolved before the cast and crew hang up its karate uniforms for the last time.

After a humdinger of a finale, season 5 unmasked Terry Silver as the resident villain to everyone in the community. With two concurrent karate fights taking place (between the rival kids in the Cobra Kai dojo, and the adults, who ambushed Silver and his henchmen at home), it was a miracle that no one was actually killed. And, after Daniel’s kids revealed video footage that Silver was bribing the judges to win the All-Valley competition, a show-down between Silver and Daniel happened, with Daniel triumphing, and the police arresting Silver to take him to jail.

Meanwhile, John Kreese will pose a new threat to our heroes in season 6. In the fifth season's finale, it appeared that he was killed in a fight while in prison. However, the final scene revealed Kreese faked his own death. Indeed, he used melted Jell-O as fake blood before somehow escaping captivity.

So, we can expect a reckoning in season 6 between Kreese, and perhaps Johnny and Danny, who lied to Kreese about hiring a lawyer to get him out of jail. Will time in prison have taught Kreese anything, or is he gunning for the duo on a quest for vengeance? We suspect the latter, especially as he's seen wearing black (the color of villains, don't you know?) robes in official images for the series' sixth season.

The Silver fallout will likely continue to have an impact on the kids he coached. In an interview with Digital Spy, Dallas Dupree Young – who plays Kenny – said: "Kenny's heartbroken. I mean, it was a gut-wrenching moment honestly, because his father figure [Silver] is his leader, the guy that he looked up to, his mentor, kind of betrayed him in a sense…So I think Kenny is in a rough headspace. He doesn't really know where he wants to go at this point. But I can't wait to see what happens with him."

More of the action will be centred around the Sekai Taikai championships, too. We know this'll be the case because of what the story synopsis reveals but, previously, Jacob Bertrand – who plays Hawk – also told PopCulture: "I really want to go to the world tournament. I think the world tournament would be super interesting because right now, it's just confined to The Valley of Karate, you know? But I think it'd be really cool to introduce some crazy new players from all around the world. Yeah, and I'm sure Hawk can win at least a couple of fights."

Meanwhile, we know that Johnny’s wife Carmen is pregnant with their much longed-for baby, so the drama could also pick up on that.

Alicia Hannah-Kim, who plays Kim Da-Eun, also teased that her character is far from done, and thinks there’s more mileage for the female sensei. Before her return was announced, she told Deadline: "Hopefully, we will continue what we’ve started in season 5 on Cobra Kai… I think they’ve opened a Pandora's box with Kim Da-Eun and Master Kim Sun-Young. It really brought a darker element to this season and I’m curious what could happen now that Cobra Kai is ostensibly defeated. I do know Kim is hellbent on global domination for her family’s legacy so there’s a lot yet to explore."

As for what else lies in store, William Zabka, who plays Johnny, said (via X/Twitter): "It’s been an awesome long journey but it’s not over yet. Season six could be the biggest, the badass-est most amazing season of Cobra Kai yet". Big claims, indeed.

Meanwhile, as the warring children have called a truce, it looks likely that they’ll all join forces and set up a new dojo for them all, but there’s the question about what to call it. In the same X/Twitter video that Zakba was a part of, Gianni Decenzo (who plays Demitri), reading from the script teased: "Victorious dojos are immortalised, and for individual competitors, the sky is the limit. But before we throw our hats into the mat, there’s one thing we need to do: decide our dojo name". Color us intrigued.

Will Cobra Kai season 6 bring the hit show to an end?

Yep. When Cobra Kai season 6 was announced, it was sadly revealed that it would be the show's final outing.

However, it’s not totally out for the count. In a statement (via X/Twitter) confirming that the main series would end with season 6, its creators hinted at potential spin-offs in the future, writing: "This fandom is the best on the planet and we hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the line. Because as we all know, Cobra Kai Never Dies.” So, stay tuned for possible spin-offs to come, gang!
