So far, the past 3 years that I've attended Southport have been great, at least socially. I've made great friends and have been able to break out of my shell a little. However, in terms of academics, I've struggled a bit. The teachers here are some of the greatest people you'd ever meet, but that doesn't mean that they make great teachers. I wish to see some more resources to help students who struggle in certain subjects. We have IPASS and math labs, but that doesn't always work since there may be more than one subject that a student struggles with and IPASS allows a student to only visit one teacher. Math labs are after school and most students do a club or a sport, many others work making it difficult to be able to receive the help they need. If the school were to either switch up a few of these resources or install new ones, they'd have a better chance of making sure that their students can succeed.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
Overall, my experience at Southport High School has been good and Southport is a good school with a effective education system and a large majority of the teachers are positive influences on students as well as teaching effectively and helping students achieve success. I enjoy most of my classes and find genuine interest in learning in those environments. Southport has been trying to make itself safer over the past few years, to ensure student security. This has been a great addition to the environment of the school and making it better overall. Although Southport could have higher quality food choices, they are average enough for a High School. I believe they could also do a better job at stopping students from using vapes or similar items.
