      Season 1 – Dark Blue

      2009 Crime Drama List
38% Tomatometer 16 Reviews From producer Jerry Bruckheimer, the man behind the "CSI" franchise, comes this fast-paced police drama that follows a team of officers in Los Angeles so covert in its undercover missions that many of their own colleagues don't realize they're involved. Carter Shaw leads the task force, dedicating himself 24/7 to his team and his underworld persona to the point that it's cost him his wife and much of his former existence. He works closely with Ty Curtis, whose recent marriage clashes with the personal relationships he develops while playing someone else on the job; straight-shooting officer Dean Bendis, whose style often leads team members to think he's become corrupt; and Jaimie Allen, a green patrol cop recruited into the undercover unit because of her shady past and skill at deception. Randee Dawn Hollywood Reporter TNT's "Dark Blue" looks good... But "Blue" is a confusing mix of cliche and posturing that seems more interested in framing a shot than telling a story. Oct 15, 2019 Full Review Verne Gay Newsday "Dark Blue" is appealing. This is a solid and particularly well-produced cop show - and should be, with Jerry Bruckheimer topping the credits - although we take off points for extreme violence. Oct 15, 2019 Full Review David Hinckley New York Daily News Like all Jerry Bruckheimer productions, "Dark Blue" moves at a fast pace and packs a lot of action. It has a good cast led by the vaguely mysterious Dylan McDermott. Oct 14, 2019 Full Review Adam Sweeting The Arts Desk All told, the show is several notches above your average police-and-thieves potboiler. Jul 18, 2018 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba It's a show that's supposed to exist in a moral gray area, but the grayness is as clear and well-groomed as the stubble on McDermott's cheeks, so even the grayness is well worn. Jun 15, 2018 Full Review Zach Oat Television Without Pity I like my cop shows with a little bit of humor, and no feeling of drowning, thank you very much. Jul 16, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Dylan McDermott leads the cast in the edgy and provocative police drama Dark Blue. Season 1 follows LA police lieutenant Carter Shaw as he puts together an elite and covert undercover unit to take down some of the most dangerous criminals in the city. Co-starring Logan Marshall-Green, Nicki Aycox, and Noah Bean, the show has a pretty solid cast that delivers some good performances. And the writers do an impressive job at developing the characters and taking them to the limit; blurring the line between cop and criminal. They also heighten the tension and suspense with interesting and exciting plot twists. Additionally, several notable guest stars are featured, including Michael Biehn and Sasha Alexander. Gritty and daring, Dark Blue delivers a strong first season that looks at the toll the criminal underworld has on the cops who have to live in it.
