Electric Light Orchestra – Can't Get It Out of My Head Lyrics | Genius Lyrics

Can’t Get It Out of My Head Lyrics

[Intro]

[Verse 1]
Midnight on the water
I saw the ocean's daughter
Walking on a wave's chicane
Staring as she called my name

[Chorus]
And I can't get it out of my head
No, I can't get it out of my head
Now my old world is gone for dead
'Cause I can't get it out of my head

[Verse 2]
Breakdown on the shoreline
Can't move, it's an ebb tide
Morning don't get here tonight
Searching for her silver light

[Chorus]
And I can't get it out of my head
No, I can't get it out of my head
Now my old world is gone for dead
'Cause I can't get it out of my head, no, no

About

Genius Annotation

The second track on their 4th album – Eldorado, it was ELO’s first top 10 hit in the USA.

The album was a concept album/rock opera that follows “the Dreamer”, the main character of the album; a Walter Mitty-esque figure escapes the boredom of his real life by taking a journey through a dreamland of his creation. “Can’t Get It Out of My Head” is the celebration of this new found freedom.

The album cover featured a scene from the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz – Dorothy’s dream.
