Lebert Equalizer Parallel Bars Product Review - Rocking 50

Lebert Equalizer Parallel Bars Product Review

So what are the Lebert Equalizer Parallel bars?

The Equalizer XL Parallel Bars are a sturdy, portable, lightweight set of parallel bars, that is perfect for a home gym.

It is a larger version of the Lebert Equalizer parallel bars and accommodates people over 6 feet tall according to Lebert.

I’ve had my set for about 6 months now and am very happy with them.

I wanted something taller than the basic parallettes which are too short for dips and these fit the bill.

I’m 64 years old and mainly do bodyweight exercises at home, so the XL’s seemed like a good choice.

Even my dog loves these things.

Benefits

Sturdy

These bars are sturdy without the added weight that you would think is needed.

You’ll be able to do reps without worry about tipping over or bending the metal, since they can accommodate up to 400 pounds each.

I feel very confident using them for dips and bodyweight rows since they are not flimsy.

Since they are not connected, you can move them as close or as far apart as you want.

You’ll probably want to move them around a little to add difficulty as you get stronger.

You can do over 100 exercises on these bars according to Lebert.

They even have videos on their website to give you new ideas for exercises.

I can get a full body workout with just 4 exercises, all on the Equalizer XL (Dips, Body Weight Rows, Squats, and Knee Ups).

Functional

More people these days are looking at functional fitness as different way to work out.

Just look at all of the boot camps that are springing up.

I like to do full body exercise routines using my bodyweight.

If you are working out at home like me, you probably don’t want to pay for a gym membership.

The Equalizer XL is a great piece of exercise equipment to add to your home gym for a reasonable price.

You can do dips, go right into bodyweight rows, and then on to L sits or knee raises.

Not all of us can do pull ups, so rows can get us going in the right direction.

I have a portable Pull Up Bar also, but sometimes I just want to do a rowing motion instead of regular pull ups.

Body Weight Rows

Because of my knees, I can’t go all the way down on pistol squats, so they help stabilize me while I do them.

These are also good for getting your BALANCE back.

As we age, our balance becomes a factor in ever day life.

Most of us don’t run and jump like we used to, so we need to stress our joints safely to maintain a healthy body.

They provide support for toe or heel raises too.

They provide an added measure of safety, if you are starting out on a BOSU ball or balance ball.

I’ve found only one drawback with the bars.

You can lay these down and do push ups for a different angle.

When doing bodyweight rows on one dip bar, it is a little too narrow for me.

I have no problem with rows when using the pair together with a neutral grip, so it’s really not an issue.

Light Weight

They weigh about 9 pounds each, so you should have no problem moving them around for your next exercise.

Portable

I keep mine in my living room out of the way.

They don’t take up much room and I like to keep them close by, since I can do a quick set of dips and put them right back.

If I want to workout in the sunshine, no problem.

Not everyone has a pull up bar in their back yard.

These also help when I want to Grease the Groove.

Click on Grease the Groove to read my article about Pavel’s training to improve exercises you are weak in.

If you are going to take them in a small car, just loosen the Allen bolts and take the cross pieces (feet) off.

It would be nicer if they had a quick disconnect instead of the Allen bolts.

Otherwise, they fit pretty easily in most cars.

Features

They are 31” High x 25” Wide and can hold up to 400 pounds each.

The XL model comes in black with foam grips in the middle.

The grips feel good and my hands don’t slip.

The cross pieces at the bottom are attached with 2 Allen bolts on each side.

They stay tight and don’t allow any side to side movement.

They have rubber caps on each end to prevent sliding on the floor.

I use them on carpet, so it’s not an issue for me.

Added Bonus

Each order comes with a Lebert Hip Resistance Band which is a $20 value.

I personally have never used it, but I am a great believer in resistance band training.

I’m sure they serve the intended purpose. If you are trying to lose weight check out Intermittent Fasting for an alternative eating lifestyle.

Conclusion

I bought my Equalizers XL dip bars during 2020 so we all know everything was hard to find.

I ended up finding mine on SPRI.

They are sturdy, well made, and convenient.

I am always on the lookout for quality fitness equipment at an affordable price.

They’ve been a great addition to my home workouts and I recommend them to my friends.

My nephew recently saw my set and now wants to get them for his office/

I also did a search and found a $20 off coupon for SPRI.
