Supporting the Mercer Family in memory of Cory

On behalf of Shannon’s friends, I am looking to help rally support from the community for her family.

Her husband Cory passed away, at home, very unexpectedly on Friday - leaving Shannon a widow so young, with their two children to care for. She will need help bridging the financial gap with their mortgage, other living expenses and planning for the future.

Now, on top of all of this, she has been advised by their life insurance company that his policy is going to be contested and the soonest it will be resolved is in 6 months. 

The hope is to also allow her to have some time off of work given that the whole family was at home and will need time to process everything.

Shannon is one of the most wonderful people I’ve ever met. She is kind, caring and loves her family - especially Cory - so much.

Cory was so kind, goofy, LIVED for his family and had an immense love of flying and helicopters. He was a fierce protector of his family and community as he bravely fought forest fires every year. He loved watching his children play sports and supporting them in everything they did all the while teasing all the kids he came across. He was an amazing guy.

Shannon always counted down each day he was away until he could be home. And despite how horrible what happened is - she is thankful that his last days were at home with her and their children.

You’d only need to see Shannon’s face when she talks about him and the way she laughs when she tells a story about him to know that he was a wonderful husband, father, friend and member of the community.

He will be forever missed.
