Track and Field Honors Seniors at Marquette Invitational Friday

Marquette hosted seven teams at Shimek Track and Field

MILWAUKEE – Marquette University track and field hosted the Marquette Invitational on Friday at Shimek Track and Field.

Junior Aaron Hughes took first in the 100m dash at 10.87 seconds. Graduate student Zachariah Murray finished third in the 200m with a time of 22.27 seconds. Junior K.T. Thomas placed second in the 400m at 51.39 seconds.

Gretchen Pfeiffer placed second in the 3000m steeplechase at 12:02.41 in the first running event of the afternoon for the women. Tessa Hollander set a new PR in the javelin throw to finish second at 38.83m while Riley Ward took third at 35.76m.

Daylee Braden finished first in the 800m at 2:18.19. Siani Brown-Carr took third in the 100m at 12.46 seconds. Lexi Keppler finished second in the 1500m at 4:52.46. Julia Beck set a new PR to finish second in the 100h at 14.67 seconds.

Marquette went 1-2-3 in the 1500m with Dan Weizeorick (1st, 3:57.74), David Zeller (2nd, 3:59.71) and Nathan Hirsch (4:02.56). Freshman Sean Kellogg placed first in the 3000m steeplechase a 9:45.14 in the first running event of the afternoon for the men.

John Pitta finished second in the high jump clearing 1.97m and triple jump with a mark of 13.45m. Kaylee Hopp (5.32m) and Mila Puseljic (5.17m) went second and third in the long jump. Hopp was first in the triple jump at 11.68m.

Emma Kingsley took first in the pole vault at 3.35m.

The Golden Eagles swept the high jump with Annika Bynum taking first clearing 1.67m. Claudia Millan finished second at 1.62m and Natalia Jackowski was third at 1.62m.

Josh Pirogovsky finished second in the shot put with a mark of 13.29m and set a new PR in the discus throw at 39.39m. Pedro Castanon took third in the hammer throw at 43.39m. Caleb Venzke placed first in the javelin throw with a mark of 48.83m.
