The main Arconia trio will be back, and they will be joined by a number of familiar faces, including Meryl Streep—who played Loretta Durkin in season three.

"It's star-studded," Martin said about season four in May 2024. "And I'm going to say we're about halfway through, and we are really enjoying this season." He added, "We think it could be one of our best seasons. Although they're all flawless."

Several new recurring cast members have been announced, but minimal details on what roles they will be play have been shared:

Longoria and Nanjiani will play characters who become "integral to the twists and turns of this season's investigation," per Deadline. Shannon will play a "high powered LA business woman who finds herself drawn into the world of the investigation in NY," again, per Deadline.

The plot will revolve around the murder of Sazz Pataki

The murder mysteries in seasons two and three were introduced in the season finales of the previous season, and the show is keeping in that tradition. Season four will follow the murder of Sazz (Jane Lynch), Charles-Haden Savage's (Martin) stunt double, who was shot by a sniper in the finale of season three.

Craig Erwich, the President of Disney Television Group (he oversees Hulu, where the show airs), said, "I can tell you, I've read the first four or five scripts for Only Murders [season 4] and they're incredible." The season will reportedly start with a trip to Los Angeles before the trio returns to the Arconia.

The cast was spotted filming a wedding in New York City.

Season four appears to feature a wedding between Loretta (Streep) and Oliver (Short), according to paparazzi photos from May 2024:

The creators want to make as many seasons as possible.

Showrunner John Hoffman wants to make as many seasons as "they'll have us for," he told Screenrant. "I really mean it. This is one of those shows [where] everyone involved in it is so happy doing it – and I know I speak for the trio and everyone else. When you have lightning in a bottle in this way, and then there's this magnetizing force of incredible talent who say, 'Wow, that looks like fun. I would love to be a part of that.'"

Hoffman continued, "I hope it gives it a good long life. I think sometimes I do recognize a certain question that comes with this premise. Well, I hope season 3 points to [how], and I have many other ideas for how to... If anything, my banner over this whole show [is that] when you look at the poster right from season 1, and you see Steven Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez? It’s unexpected. And so that, I think, holds a lot under it that could have it for a long life. Who knows, though? I genuinely don't know."

Season four will premiere on August 27.

In May, Hulu dropped the first trailer (watch above).
