Red Riding, Death Bell Go to IFC

Distributor to handle U.S. releases



IFC Films picked up the U.S. rights to The Red Riding Trilogy. The distributor is aiming to release all three films – based on David Pearce’s novels – this fall using their on demand platform and through a limited theatrical/festival run.

The trilogy is being produced for England’s Channel 4, they span the time period between 1974 and 1983 when a man named Peter Sutcliffe garnered the “The Yorkshire Ripper” title in England after killing 13 women.

Michael Winterbottom and Andrew Eaton’s Revolution Films produced the trilogy, which stars Sean Bean, Mark Addy, Paddy Considine, Andrew Garfield, Rebecca Hall, Eddie Marsan and David Morrissey. You can find some promo art here.

Meanwhile, IFC has also picked up the South Korean hit Death Bell. The film tells of a group of students who enter into a special class and wind up fighting for their lives. Here’s a trailer…
