The retailer has achieved 3,706 million kWh in renewable energy.
Japan's AEON Co., Ltd. has initiated 55% of its domestic stores to undergo renewable energy procurement as part of its initiative to lessen carbon dioxide emissions from stores.
In a statement, AEON said it has procured a total of 3,706 kilowatt-hours of renewable energy.
This is part of the company's “AEON Decarbonization Vision” for 2030 which was introduced in 2018.

Aside from this, the company targets to have installed solar power generation facilities in 1,383 Group stores nationwide by FY23, and have 50 shopping centres source renewable energy from 1,292 power plants.
AEON said 55% of the renewable energy procurement was secured through a combination of non-fossil certificates.
The company also aim to increase the reduction of its power consumption by around 3% year-on-year. Some of the initiatives it led include the adoption of LED lights and high-efficiency air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
