What a final! Worth every penny. From the second over of the match till the last, the momentum kept shifting from one end to the other. There was some good batting - Shane Watson, Kieran Pollard - a lot of very good bowling - Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar, Rahul Chahar and Imran Tahir - some run outs, some umpiring errors, some drama. The match had it all to make for wholesome entertainment. A match worthy of a final, a match worth every penny. In the end, only one run separated the two best sides in the competition, with Mumbai Indians outplaying Chennai Super Kings yet again. Fourth IPL title for Mumbai Indians.
Lasith Malinga held his nerves yet again and delivered a yorker to trap Shardul Thakur legbefore with CSK needing 2 runs to win off the last ball. Mumbai Indians win by 1 run, beat CSK for the fourth time in this season and the third time in an IPL final.
WATSON FALLS The drama just doesn't seem to end. With 5 runs needed off three balls, Shane Watson tried to take a two. But fell short against Krunal Pandya's throw from deep point. Wicket falls. MI again edge slightly ahead.
For as good as Quinton de Kock has been behind the wicket today, he has let go of a simple delivery through his gloves for four bye. CSK need 9 runs in the final over. Jasprit Bumrah has finished a superb spell. Would have done better with some help from his fielders.
WICKET The match has had its ebbs and flows, and it continues to do so. Looking to go for a wild slog, Dwayne Bravo gets an edge to the 'keeper. Jasprit Bumrah strikes again!
Rohit Sharma took a gamble by bowling Krunal Pandya in the 18th over and it didn't pay off. The '17 final PoM got smashed for three consecutive sixes by the '18 final PoM, and 20 runs were leaked. Now,CSK are left needing 18 off the last two overs.

THIRD TIME LUCKY! Jasprit Bumrah comes on to bowl his third over and almost gets Shane Watson. The opener gets a top edge to a pull and it goes straight down the throat of Rahul Chahar at deep mid wicket...and Watson gets dropped again, for the third time in the innings.
FIFTY With successive boundaries off Lasith Malinga, Shane Watson has brought up another IPL fifty. Even with the two dropped chances, he has looked the only batsman comfortable in the middle after the fall of Faf du Plessis.
Ummm... not really. David Warner and Imran Tahir are top-quality players.
BIG WICKET Hardik Pandya's error in not collecting the ball has helped them get the big breakthrough of MS Dhoni, who attempted a second run and fell short by one frame to Ishan Kishan's direct throw. Nigel Llong, third umpire, had a really Llong look before declaring the CSK skipper 'OUT'

Krunal v Faf du Plessis: After being hit for boundaries off the first three balls of the fourth over, the slow left-armer comes back well with a flat fast delivery outside off to have the batsman stumped by some fine work by Quinton de Kock. First strike for Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai Indians have bowled tight for the first three overs, but a few missed run out chances have resulted in CSK remaining safe so far. 19 for no loss in 3 overs.

In an innings that has had its ebbed and flowed, Mumbai Indians have eventually managed a score of 149/8. Given the kind of start that they managed, they wouldn't be happy with the eventual score. But there is nothing to take away from the CSK bowlers - especially the 19th over bowled by Deepak Chahar - and the unpredictable bowling changes by MS Dhoni.
A bit of drama in the last over with the umpire refusing to call two consecutive deliveries as wide. A furious Kieran Pollard takes guard outside the off stump and calls for some attention.

BIG BLOW The decision to give Deepak Chahar the penultimate over has worked. Standing deep inside the crease, Hardik Pandya was trapped plumb by a yorker. Deepak Chahar bags his second wicket of the innings, and a big one at that!
The plan to bounce Hardik Pandya out almost worked with Shardul Thakur inducing the top edge. But Suresh Raina dropped the easiest of catches to give the MI destructor a life, and some misery for Shardul Thakur.

It has been 11 overs, and MS Dhoni hasn't brought on Imran Tahir or Ravindra Jadeja to bowl. He has diverted a bit from the plan and even bowled two overs of Dwayne Bravo in this period. Whether it is a mistake or a masterstroke will only be known nine overs later.
