I love Downey High School’s preparations for students who strive to go to college. They genuinely seem interested in having any and every student be able to attend and graduate from a college. They do this by introducing the idea of taking Ap classes, having meetings about college attendance, and by having actual alumni and counselors explain the intricacies of colleges. Despite this, the school advocating for student’s attendance in college, should also advocate for more accesible extracurriculars. As many know, extracurriculars are super important for college apps, but from my experience, applying for an extracurricular is just as hard.
my experience at Downey high school was incredible. Transferring to the school has taught me everything I needed to know for my future and has prepared me for anything that’ll come in my way. Downey high school has some incredible teachers that I will never forget and we’re amazing to me. The best part at the school was being a cheerleader because it gave me a real high school experience taught me many lessons and introduced me to many other friends that I have today. I would like to see change in the way my school prepared us for college. I was lucky enough to have the advantage of using college consulting provided at my school and I’d like to see my school change the way they promote it because it was a really useful tool to help me get into top schools.
The best part of Downey High School is having the best teachers, they have made me a much better person than the first time I entered the school. They helped set me up for college and without their help, I would never have even thought about college, and for that, I am very grateful. The worst parts of Downey High School is that some of my peers would be rude to me, but other than that, it was a great school.
