Who Is Jordin Sparks' Husband? All About Dana Isaiah

Jordin Sparks made a double revelation in November 2017 when she revealed that she was both married to and expecting with Dana Isaiah

Singer Jordin Sparks' relationship with husband Dana Isaiah is full of surprises.

Not only did the "Double Tap" singer reveal in November 2017 that she was married to Isaiah but that they also were expecting their first child together. Sparks, who started dating the model earlier in 2017, has been open about her love for her husband, especially after the birth of their son Dana Isaiah Jr. in 2018.

"I don't know if this is a surprising thing, but I do know in my bones it's just been total confirmation to me that he's the person I'm supposed to be with," Sparks told PEOPLE in November 2020. "Dana is everything, he is my partner, not in crime, but he's my partner in life [and] thrive — is what I like to say."

She added, "He is an amazing father. He is an amazing human. He is an amazing friend — he's my best friend. It's just really cool that we can do life together. I knew that he was it before, but confirmation has definitely been a beautiful thing."

So, who is the man that captured the heart of the American Idol winner? Here's everything you need to know about Jordin Sparks' husband, Dana Isaiah.

He was born in Chicago

Isaiah was born in Chicago, though he was raised in Missouri after his family moved there to run a Christian youth camp.

While Isaiah uses "Dana Isaiah" professionally, his birth name is Dana Isaiah Thomas.

Sparks fell in love with him at first sight

Isaiah and Sparks first met virtually. However, when he visited her in Los Angeles, she was immediately smitten upon seeing him in person.

"When I opened my door, I looked at him, and I went … (gasp!) … 'Oh, no!'" Sparks told Today in a 2020 interview.

"I knew (love at first sight) was possible, but I didn't think it was going to happen to me," she added. "But that was, literally, what it was. I knew the second day that we hung out that that was the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with. He didn't know that, and I didn't tell him that, but I knew."

He is a fitness junky, just like Sparks

Isaiah and Sparks train together and push each other to the limit at the gym. Isaiah is an experienced fitness trainer and frequently posts their couple's workouts on Instagram.

"Shoutout my guy @justinallen_13 for letting us use his gym/sauna and training us while we were in town," Isaiah wrote in the caption of an Instagram photo of the couple post-workout.

He is younger than Sparks

Isaiah was born in 1992, while Sparks was born in 1989. He once shared a celebratory post on Instagram for his 25th birthday back in 2018.

"Grateful to God for his angels he has watching over my life," Isaiah wrote in the caption. "Blessed to see 25! Thanks to all my friends and family who have made it so special thus far. Yalls FaceTime calls give me life and lots of laughter."

They are both religious

Sparks is well-known for sharing inspirational content related to her Christianity on Instagram. In the past, she's posted a motivational message with the caption, "This resonated with me so deeply. Only by the grace of God."

Isaiah has shared similar content, but in 2018, he also published a book about spirituality titled, A Higher Calling: Claiming God's Best for Your Life.

"I wrote these devotions because these are issues I can personally address," he told The Christian Post. "If you have someone my age who is open about their mistakes and willing to admit where they've messed up, others will listen. Mistakes are going to happen; they're inevitable. But, I want young people to know that they are not defined by their mistakes, and they can start over at any point."

He answers Sparks' emails

Isaiah is involved in running Sparks' social media accounts, including answering her public email account. In July 2022, he posted a plea on Instagram Stories for her fans to stop sending her inappropriate messages.

"I RUN THE EMAIL FOR ALL INQUIRIES ABOUT @JORDINSPARKS," he wrote. "I'D APPRECIATE NO MORE D-CK PICS PLEASE & THANKS."

Isaiah urged fans who are sending inappropriate messages to provide a hint in the subject line, saying, "SH-T AT LEAST WARN ME IN THE SUBJECT SO I WON'T OPEN THAT BS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!"

The two spent a date night at the NBA Finals Game 4 in 2017, meeting Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Charles Barkley.

Isaiah was also there to support Sparks as she sang the National Anthem before the game began, taking a video of her that he posted on Instagram.

He and Sparks got married in Hawaii in 2017

On July 16, 2017, Sparks and Isaiah eloped in Hawaii while vacationing there with friends. They did not publicly reveal the news until nearly four months later, after the marriage was exclusively confirmed by PEOPLE.

"It just more solidifies the whole team sentiment of a relationship," Sparks told PEOPLE about their marriage. "You know you're still individuals, but at the same time, everything is about 'we' and 'us' as opposed to 'you' and 'I.'"

He is a family man

Like Sparks, who has two nieces she posts about frequently, Isaiah proudly shares photos of his siblings, parents and godson.

When he and Sparks went on a vacation with his family in 2018, he shared a series of photos from the trip, writing, "Weekend recap. What's understood doesn't have to be explained! #LaFamilia #unbreakablebond."

He shares a son with Sparks

Isaiah and Sparks welcomed their son Dana Isaiah Thomas Jr. — better known as DJ — on May 2, 2018.

Isaiah told PEOPLE that the two "cried like little babies" after DJ was born. "It was just that realizing moment that everything you had been preparing for was here in your hands. Every emotion that you felt throughout the entire pregnancy from start to beginning just 'Bam,' and it hits you."

Sparks and Isaiah have been overjoyed since their son's arrival, posting many happy moments with their son on Instagram. However, Sparks has said she is "one and done" regarding having more children.

"It's a lot to keep him entertained, and we have these full-on conversations. So for me, I'm like, 'You know what? I know, mentally, I could not handle two of these conversations right now,'" she told PEOPLE. "He's got cousins; he's got friends. He's good! And it's not because it's a crazy time, in that he's in his twos or anything — it doesn't have anything to do with that. I'm just like, 'Yeah, one is good.'"
