Thai Airways - Premium Economy

Hello,

Flying Heathrow to Bangkok with Thai Airways (economy class) in a couple of weeks, does anyone know how much it is to upgrade to premium economy and if it's worth it?

Fancy a little bit of luxury, but not sure if it's worth the extra or not.

Many thanks

Hi,

As far as I know, Thai don't have a PE cabin on the 747-400s they fly on the London route only on the lax-bkk route

Hi,

While not direct to the OP, for those that are interested in the PE cabin on Thai..

As an FYI, do know that Thai's PE product is ONLY found on their A340-500's which are used on their longest haul sectors such BKK-LAX v.v.. and formerly on their JFK-BKK non-stop.

It's a modified 3-cabin aircraft-- Royal Silk (Business), Premium Economy and traditional Economy.. The A340-500 is the only aircraft in their entire fleet to be configured in this manner and with PE cabin.

Also do know that Thai is actively looking to sell or dispose of this model (A340-500's) and there are no known or announced plans to introduce the PE cabin concept on any of their future-delivery aircraft (i.e A380's, etc), nor to be retro-fitted into any existing fleet aircraft.

They were acquired essentially to operate their then-new JFK-BKK ultra-long haul as well as the then-new LAX-BKK non-stop (which previous to the A340-500 was a LAX-NRT/KIX-BKK service).

Barring a change in current plans or announcement to the contrary, it appears that once Thai's A340-500's are sold or remove from active fleet, it will be effectively the end of the PE-type cabin concept across the Thai fleet.
