Tyler E This is the anime that got me into the entire genre. I watched it when I was an edgy high schooler, and I thought it was amazing. I was scared to watch it again because I might have been remembering with those nostalgia glasses we all have, but it was actually as smart and interesting as I remember. I think it is a trend setter and brought many people into the mainline anime stream, Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/08/24 Full Review Weabuu 0 Though it does fall off it still will always be one of the classics of anime that will never fade away. Has something for everyone, very very good Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review Qer A movie that manages to be smart and profound, with a touch of dark comedy. Despite the amount of death, death is treated very respectfully with very little gore. Plot moves at a furious pace with no filter while managing to leave no major plot holes. A certified classic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/24 Full Review Teddy B A highly profound and taut game of cat and mouse that garners the number of episodes it has. The intelligence and brainpower of the two main characters provides for a more unpredictable and in-depth experience. The American dub is also very skillfully and tastefully put together. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/24 Full Review Ellis S Death Note stands as an anime masterpiece, seamlessly blending intense psychological drama with gripping suspense. The narrative revolves around Light Yagami, a high school student who stumbles upon a mysterious notebook that grants him the power to kill anyone by writing their name in it. What follows is a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game with the enigmatic detective L. What sets Death Note apart is its exploration of profound philosophical themes. The series delves into the consequences of absolute power, prompting viewers to contemplate notions of justice, morality, and the thin line between good and evil. Light's descent into moral ambiguity and the moral dilemmas faced by other characters add layers of complexity to the storyline. Visually, Death Note excels with its striking animation and atmospheric lighting. The use of dark tones mirrors the moral complexities of the characters, creating an immersive experience. The soundtrack is equally exceptional, with haunting melodies that enhance the overall mood. The series maintains a relentless pace, unveiling unexpected twists and turns that keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Death Note's ability to subvert expectations and challenge conventional storytelling norms is a testament to its brilliance. Each episode is a cerebral delight, and the tension is palpable throughout. Death Note's characters are well-developed, each contributing to the intricate plot. The dynamic between Light and L is a highlight, showcasing intellectual battles that elevate the series. The moral quandaries faced by characters add depth, making them more than mere caricatures. In conclusion, Death Note is a thought-provoking journey that transcends the anime genre. Its rich narrative, complex characters, and exploration of philosophical themes make it a timeless classic. Whether you're a seasoned anime enthusiast or a newcomer, Death Note offers an unforgettable experience that combines intellectual stimulation with intense storytelling.
