Rhys ap Tewdwr Prince of Deheubarth was born in 1051, in Llandyfeisant, Carmarthenshire, Wales as the son of Tewdwr Mawr ap Cadell and Gwenllian ferch Gwyn. He married Gwladys ferch Rhiwallon in 1075, in Wales. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 3 daughters. He registered for military service in 1088. He died before 30 April 1093, in Penrice, Glamorgan, Wales, and was buried in Tregaron, Cardiganshire, Wales.
