David Sweeney awarded CBE in birthday honours

Queen’s honours list includes awards for prominent figures in higher education

David Sweeney, executive chair of Research England, has been made a Commander of the British Empire for services to higher education in the Queen’s birthday honours on 1 June.

A number of other prominent figures in science and higher education were honoured, including former universities and science minister Chris Skidmore, who was given an OBE for parliamentary and public service.
