The library was first housed at the old Quezon City Hall building then located where Ramon Magsaysay High School in Cubao presently occupies.   In 1982, a separate library building at the back of the QC Hall civic center was constructed and was inaugurated on August 16, 1983. In 2016, a new modern three-storey library building was constructed and was inaugurated on February 6, 2017. To date, QCPL building is one of the best public library buildings in the country and a venue for library bench-hmarking. It houses the Administrative Services, Technical Services Division, Publication Section, Office of the City Librarian, Law Research and the Conference Room. The ground floor houses the Readers Services, E-gov services, MIS and Puppets room. To date, it has 25 branch libraries located in six (6) districts of Quezon City.
