In February 2022, Goethe Pop Up Seattle's monthly film series presents Gábor Altorjay's PANKOW '95. This pre-recorded Q&A will accompany the screening of the film.
In PANKOW '95, it is an alternate 1995 in which the East won the Cold War. Musicologist Johann Wolfgang Amadeus Zart (Udo Kier), locked up in an East Berlin mental hospital because of his dangerous insights into youth culture and rebellion, determines to break out, with the help of sundry sci-fi characters including a South American general and Germany’s first test-tube teenager (musician Tom Dokoupil).
The monthly film series GERMAN CINEMA NOW! is presented by Goethe Pop Up Seattle in partnership with Northwest Film Forum.
