Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There is a pedestrian/bike path parallel to the beach. If you walk a bit down from the corner of Stearns wharf and State Street, you will find a nice sandy stretch of beach, a bit away from the wharf itself. Although the beach is not sheltered from the water ocean, the waves are relatively gentle. And there are some pleasant surrounding views. In the immediate area, there is 75 minute free parking.

East beach is situated on Cabrillo Blvd as you enter the beach area from Los Angeles. Take the Cabrillo exit and turn left. The beach also has areas for sand-play and a tasty outside cafe. The ocean is cold but invigorating.

East beach is very popular among locals and offers a nice, clean sandy beach with a water fountain and picnic tables. Parking is next to it. A great place to spend and afternoon and catch a few waves body surfing.

This beach was across from our hotel, and is very nice, and long. It was never crowded while we were there.

This is a great beach because there is an amazing playground right on the sand, you can bike to it, and there are places to eat nearby.

Out of all the beaches I have been to on the entire west coast this was probably my least favorite. Believe it or not it is in the beautiful Santa Barbara area. We encountered homeless people as well as people living out of vans from one end of the beach to the other. Some of them were performing personal grooming leaving little to the imagination in plain view. Others were smoking marijuana in public. To really add to the feeling of uncomfortable area had zero police presence. It really made for an uncomfortable time. A creek splits the two beaches in half. The city actually placed signs to discourage people from getting near or allowing children to wade into. The city really needs to rethink the entire thing. It is really a shame.

While the water wasn't the bluest I've ever seen (and it was too cold to get in while we were there), the sand is soft, and there's a large span of it, so I imagine even in warmer times of year, there's plenty of room for everyone. There are also public restrooms that are kept clean and conveniently located. Fair warning, there are a few homeless people, but they don't panhandle; they just seem to stay there, and that was OK with us.

Beautiful Beach right near downtown Santa Barbara. Usually not too crowded. I went swimming every day (three weeks) while in Santa Barbara in November. The water was fine. The only issue is the tar you sometimes find on your feet or towel, so be careful and clean your feet with some oil such as vegetable oil. You can park for free along the beach or on adjacent streets.
