Neighborhood: Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred meters long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theaters. National Theater near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.

Historical Square named after the patron saint of Bohemia
This World Heritage Site is one of the main squares of the city, located in the New Town. Over the years, Wenceslas Square has been the setting of many historical events, demonstrations, celebrations and public gatherings. It is named after the patron saint of Bohemia. The southest side is dominated by the grand neoclassical Czech National Museum.

    Large impressive public space
It’s modern, but grand in scope ad it’s just fun to walk it all the way down to the National Museum and even around it. If you want to find a place to eat, there are many choices. Seeing this when visiting Prague, particularly on a short stay, is not essential, but if you have the time and you’re trough with your list of must-sees, you could do worse.

There is history here, but you have to want to find it
This is a large square that is flanked by shopping and restaurants on either side. At one end of the square is one of their more famous museum. You will find that many tours will take you here or have you meet here. Without a guide or reading up on the square it will be tough to appreciate the history and meaning of the area. It’s certainly something to walk through, but nothing I would spend a lot of time in compared to the other great parks in the city.

    Stunning Wenceslas
Wenceslas Square in Prague is a city square that would find it's way into any traveller's top picks. Packed full of more character than you could ever wish to see. The juxtaposition of new and old is quite wonderful. The horses and carts trot around the square while the shops sell all manner of goods from new to antique. Cafe culture is alive and you'll find yourself whiling away hours just appreciating the moment and watching the world go by. A stunning piece of architecture, traditions and human interaction in one breathtaking city square.

    Interesting history
As a space it’s not overly amazing. It’s is a wide boulevard flanked by old and new shops and hotels. At one end is the statue of Wenceslas where you can’t help but sing Good King Wenceslas… knowing he was not a king now! As a place of history it is memorising. The 1989 gathering must have been a sight. The Hotel Jalta looks out to the square. It’s a busy touristy spot and should be perused when visiting Prague as it contains a lot of history, recent and much older.

Wenceslas Square is one of the main city squares and the centre of the business and cultural communities in the New Town of Prague, Czech Republic. Many historical events occurred there, and it is a traditional setting for demonstrations, celebrations, and other public gatherings. It is also the place with the busiest pedestrian traffic in the whole country. The square is named after Saint Wenceslas, the patron saint of Bohemia.
Less a square than a boulevard, Wenceslas Square has the shape of a very long (750 m) rectangle, in a northwest–southeast direction.
The Czech National Museum and a statue of Saint Wenceslas dominate the southeast end of the square.
The square also contained the second largest Christmas Market in the city but it was a fairly long walk (about 1 km) from the Christmas Market at the Old Town Square (and even further from our hotel).

This ‘square’ is not really a square in the conventional sense. It’s basically two boulevards separated by what might have once been a central hedge, each boulevard having a backdrop of various retail outlets.

Overall, this place struck me as one step above skid row. Garbage all over the place. Construction dividers cluttering up the roadways, jackhammers blasting the ear drums, cement mixers grinding away. Then there are the youths - barely beyond puberty - noisily staggering up and down the street.

What a hole! Couldn’t wait to get away!

Wenceslas Square is the second biggest square in the Czech Republic and one of the main squares in Prague .It is located in New Town . My husband and I were touring Prague and we had the opportunity to take in the sites of Old Town and New Town with a local guide. We didn’t spend much time here but was able to see all the highlights and take in the history. Wenceslas Square is a World Heritage Site named after St. Wenceslas, Duke of Bohemia, and the patron saint of Bohemia.

Dominating the square is the National Museum and the equestrian statue of St. Wenceslas to symbolize the Czech statehood. The square became the main venue for demonstrations that led to the fall of the communist regime as well as celebrations, parades and other public gatherings. Today, it is home to a variety of businesses, attractions, residences, cafes, bars and the Christmas market. We enjoyed our time here and took numerous photographs. Don’t miss this historical square.

This is a very large square, surrounded by mid-range shops and eateries.

It slopes uphill from the end near Old Town, up to the impressive museum at the top of the square.

We were there in December and there were lots of Christmas market huts set up as well as large Christmas trees at either end of the square and lots of fairy lights.

There are also cool converted tram car cafes in the middle of the square.

Well worth a visit in December.

Pretty square with incredible buildings and statues. Very busy, so watch your bags! Bars and cafés can be expensive, but there's a small bar near the clock with 69czk pints of beer, if you want to watch the world go by with a drink, without being ripped off. You can also see the clock display from. Here if you time it well.

One end is flanked by the National Museum and the statue of Saint Wenceslas. Other end goes straight to Old Town Hall where the iconic astronomical clock is. Pedestrian pathway surrounded by designer shops, mini marts, souvenir stores, fast food, traditional cuisine peddled , and even street food. Some are musicians and life flows heavily in that intersection. If you plan a relaxed shopping tour get a hotel walkable to main tourist and shopping attractions. Went there in the morning and we got nice photos since tour groups haven’t arrived by that time.

Lively square that is worth a visit in both day and night. The location can be highly animated at times with an eclectic blend of individuals and visual stimuli as you walk about. During Christmas one will find a very lively environment with a nice market to stroll and explore through. At night, there will be numerous individuals on the street soliciting to visit clubs and offer other adult services, especially near the Starbucks.

Unless you plan on visiting the museum I didn’t find this an area worth visiting. The architecture of some of the building was interesting but that was true throughout lesser town and old town too. Save the time and visit elsewhere. The shopping wasn’t anything special either. Loved Prague but this was one of the least impressive areas.
