It really is potluck if you get a space in the car park, we tried 3 different times and never got one. We ended up parking in the road further down, as you pass the viewing point on your right, which is actually better as the view is not blocked by trees, whereas the viewing point is.
It is fantastic scenery when you get to see it, though, as is the drive up there.

Eagle falls has 2 falls, the upper and lower and it is in your best interest to see both of them. You can continue on up to the lake but it is going to be a good hike to get there and you will need a free permit day pass to do it. You do not need a pass just to see the falls. It is a short hike to the upper falls and well worth your time. Parking is going to be the biggest obstacle so plan accordingly.

We did the guided tour here so as to be able to see and hear about the main house. Another old estate built by the wealthy and donated to California for the enjoyment of all. The mansion itself is super cool and old with alot of history and cool, old stuff still inside. The grounds are beautiful, scenic and quiet along the shore of the lake. The tour is short, and it allows you to see things you could not see on your own.

A+ all around at Alpine Meadows from the parking attendant to the instructors at the ski school to the folks in the rental shop who made our first family ski trip an absolutely incredible and seamless experience. Honestly it is rare to come across service this fantastic anymore. It was incredible to see my kids skiing for the first time! I'm already trying to figure out when we can plan another trip! I absolutely recommend the ski school!

During my Tahoe road trip in July, I rented a bike in Tahoe City and rode on the Truckee River Trail from Tahoe City to the Olympic Village. This wonderful trail snakes along the banks of the Truckee River over a distance of about six miles one-way. Several interpretive signage is posted along the way to augment the stops to enjoy the river scene. The river is popular for rafting and I saw several groups of recreational rafters floating on the river which added to the enjoyment of my bike ride. A nice feature of the trail is the very few road crossings.

I had one of the most enjoyable bike rides on the Truckee River Trail. This is indeed a prime attraction in Tahoe City.

Friend and I enjoyed talking to Kim at the Tahoe City Visitor Center on October 31, 2023. She gave us a good deal of information and helped plan our trip around Lake Tahoe. Glad we followed her recommendation to visit Emerald Bay and eat at Riva Grille, S. Lake Tahoe--excellent. Was easy to see that Kim liked her work and helping people. Very pleased we met her.

Brought a group of teenagers here and they loved it. They went sledding. Make a reservation online. Parking is chaotic. They provide the saucers, you cannot use your own. Hill gets icier in the afternoon. There is a house to warm us and get a hot chocolate or hot spiced wine. There are some chairs for observers, but if you have some in your car, bring your own.

Great place to walk off that lunch or dinner we just had in Tahoe City! We often take a walk around the park area before or after eating in Tahoe City. There are several ways down to the beach area, lots of benches along the way. The grandkids love the playground equipment and the beach. It's a great place to get some nice sunset photos!

This trail development is brilliant. A great way to gently experience the lake, see the views, be around some of the food venues, without too much effort. The trails seem to be expanding over time. Kudos!

The Gatekeepers Museum in Tahoe City has a long official name - California State Parks Truckee River Outlet - William Layton Steinbach Indian Basket & Gatekeepers Museum! I spent about an hour here while renting a bike from the nearby Willard's Sports Shop. The museum was not open (early in the morning); no matter. I walked around the State Park complex, and I found the dam at the outlet of Lake Tahoe (start of Truckee River) to be quite interesting. It is a beautiful structure and there is a panoply of historical boards on the dam walk. Additionally, one could walk out to the shores of Lake Tahoe behind the museum. The walk around the museum building is lovely too. The Gatekeepers Museum is certainly worth a stop if one is visiting Tahoe City. One can learn quite a bit about Tahoe area history.

This is truly a splendid spot to stop and admire the view and take some photos. Plus it is a pleasure to get up to this point.

Sledding down the slopes on sleds and tubes brings pure joy, and the views of snow-covered Lake Tahoe are breathtaking, suitable for both seasoned winter enthusiasts and first-timers.
