Terms and Conditions
General Terms
- The Best Western Travel Card® is referred to herein as the “Travel Card” or collectively as “Travel Cards.”
- Best Western International, Inc. is referred to herein as “we,” “us,” “our,” or “Best Western.”
- Travel Card is a prepaid card, not a credit card or debit card.
- Travel Cards are issued in the form of a physical plastic card, electronic card, or in some circumstances and in some locations, digital printable format.
- Guests must have the plastic, electronic or digital printable format of the Travel Card in their possession to receive the value of the card.
- Travel Cards purchased for the face value of the Travel Card carry no expiration date.
- In limited circumstances, Travel Cards provided as promotional awards or otherwise for promotional purposes may contain an expiration date.
- Travel Cards carry no value until activated. Travel Cards are not returnable, refundable or redeemable for cash, and may not be resold or transferred for value, except to the extent required by law. Lost, stolen, or damaged Travel Cards will not be canceled or replaced without card number and proof of purchase. Unlawful resale or attempted resale is grounds for seizure and cancellation without compensation.
- Except where prohibited by law, Best Western reserves the right to refuse, deactivate, cancel, reject, or hold for review any Travel Card mistakenly issued in an incorrect denomination or issued or procured, directly or indirectly, in connection with fraudulent actions or in connection with any violation of these terms and conditions.
- No individual or entity may purchase more than $10,000 in Travel Cards in a 24-hour period.
- Travel Cards purchased or bartered from sources other than Best Western licensed vendors (“Unlicensed Vendors”) are not valid or redeemable. Best Western is not responsible for honoring a Travel Card purchased from an Unlicensed Vendor. Travel Cards may not be resold by any Unlicensed Vendor or individual under penalty of law. If the Travel Card was purchased through an Unlicensed Vendor, Best Western reserves the right to refuse providing any additional card information.
- In the interest of protecting you from fraud, we recommend consumers do not purchase Travel Cards from Unlicensed Vendors.

Travel Card
- Travel Cards can be purchased at participating Best Western branded hotels worldwide, online at travelcard.bestwestern.com and through licensed vendors. Travel Cards can be used toward participating Best Western hotel lodging charges (i.e., room night charges and applicable taxes). Acceptance of the Travel Card for services other than hotel lodging charges is at the discretion of the individual hotel.
- Travel Cards can be purchased or reloaded (in some cases) online at travelcard.bestwestern.com in USD, CAD, EUR, or GBP currencies, or purchased or reloaded (in some cases) at participating Best Western branded hotels worldwide in the local currency of the region, but may be subject to conversion fees, as set forth below. Not all Travel Cards are reloadable.
- The purchaser is responsible for providing an accurate mailing address and email address. Best Western is not responsible for delivery of a Travel Card to an incorrect but deliverable address or a non-existent address that is provided by the purchaser.
- An electronic Travel Card is delivered in 1-3 business days.
Purchasing a Travel Card via travelcard.bestwestern.com
- If a purchaser uses a credit card (e.g., American Express, MasterCard, etc.) to purchase a Travel Card in a currency other than USD, such currency must be converted to USD and may be subject to a conversion fee. Fees are subject to prevailing conversion rates. Please check with your credit card provider for more information.
- Fees for international transactions may be charged by the credit card provider. Please consult your credit card provider for specific details regarding applicable international fees.
Use of the Travel Card at a Best Western Branded Hotel
- If the Travel Card was not used to book a pre-paid reservation, then at time of check-in guests must present their Travel Card and a personal credit card or other form of payment guarantee.
- Best Western reserves the right to request a form of security deposit in advance for expenses not covered by the Travel Card. Travel Cards cannot be used as a form of guarantee for room reservations.
- The value available on the Travel Card will be reduced by the total charges. It is the responsibility of the cardholder to keep track of the value of their Travel Card. Travel Card balances can be tracked online at travelcard.bestwestern.com. The balance may also be checked by calling Travel Card Customer Service (see contact information below).
- Guests cannot use Best Western Travel Cards to pay for reservations booked through third parties, such as online travel agencies.
- If you present a Travel Card at check-in the amount redeemed from the Travel Card will be converted to the local currency of the hotel by us or our agents. Unless a particular rate is required by applicable law, we will choose a conversion rate that is acceptable to us.
Use of the Travel Card to Book Online Reservations at bestwestern.com
- At time of online reservation, guests will be prompted to enter their Travel Cards (if available) and a personal credit card or other form of payment guarantee.
- Travel Cards can only be used to book online reservations for a hotel if the Travel Card was issued in the local currency of the region.
- Travel Cards applied online can be used towards hotel lodging charges (i.e., room night charges and applicable taxes).
- Best Western reserves the right to request a form of security deposit in advance for expenses not covered by the Travel Card.
- The value available on the Travel Card will be reduced by the total charges of the reservation, including any applicable federal, state, or local taxes. If a transaction exceeds the Travel Card balance, the cardholder must pay the remaining balance with another payment method. It is the responsibility of the cardholder to keep track of the value of their Travel Card. Travel Card balances can be tracked online at travelcard.bestwestern.com. The balance may also be checked by calling Travel Card Customer Service (see contact information below).
- The value available on the Travel Card must be consumed by the expiration date (if applicable). The arrival date of your booking must be on or before the Travel Card expiration date.
- If you modify a reservation associated with a Travel Card and the total cost due changes, the Travel Card will be refunded and must be presented to the hotel for processing. This refund will only process if the Travel Card is valid and not expired.
- If you cancel a reservation associated with a Travel Card that has not expired, then the full amount is refunded back to the Travel Card.
- Failing to show for a reservation will result in a charge to your credit card or other guaranteed payment method. Travel Cards used for a reservation that you fail to show for may be charged. Taxes or other fees may apply.
Risk of Loss, Limitation of Liability, and Choice of Law and Venue
- Neither Best Western nor any of its affiliates are responsible for any lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed Travel Card or if any Travel Card is used without your permission.
- For physical Travel Cards, risk of loss and title pass to the purchaser on Best Western’s delivery of the Travel Card to the carrier. For electronic Travel Cards, risk of loss and title pass to the purchaser upon electronic transmission to recipient (the recipient may not always be the original purchaser).
- TO THE FULL EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY LAW, WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO TRAVEL CARDS, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. TO THE FULL EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY LAW, IN THE EVENT A TRAVEL CARD IS NON-FUNCTIONAL, YOUR SOLE REMEDY, AND BEST WESTERN’S SOLE LIABILITY, WILL BE THE REPLACEMENT OF THAT TRAVEL CARD.
- Any disputes arising out of or related to Travel Cards, or these Terms and Conditions will be handled individually without any class action and will be governed by and enforced in accordance with the laws of Arizona, without regard to its conflicts of law rules. The exclusive jurisdiction for any claim or action arising out of or relating to the Travel Cards or these Terms and Conditions may be filed only in the state or federal courts located in Arizona.
