Colin Firth, 57, and his wife Livia Giuggioli, 48, are in the media spotlight this week, not for Firth's acting career or Giuggioli's work as a film producer, but rather because she has accused Italian journalist Marco Brancaccia, 55, of harassing her with "frightening" messages.

Today, it was revealed that Giugglioli previously had a relationship with this man between 2015 and 2016, whom she has now accused of stalking her. Brancaccia has denied the accusations.

Aside from this on-going legal issue, here's what you need to know about Giuggoili.

She and Firth were married in 1997.

They reportedly met in Colombia while working on the mini-series "Nostromo." Over the course of this accusation against Brancaccia, it came out that they decided to separate for a time, but have since reunited. "A few years ago Colin and Livia privately made the decision to separate. During that time Livia briefly became involved with former friend Mr Brancaccia. The Firths have since reunited," reads a statement from the couple in the Sunday Times.

"Subsequently, Mr. Brancaccia carried out a frightening campaign of harassment over several months, much of which is documented. For obvious reasons, the Firths have never had any desire to make this matter public." Again, Brancaccia denies those accusations, telling the Times, "My 'stalking' consisted of two messages via WhatsApp after she ended our relationship in June 2016, and an email,” he said. "I wrote an email to Colin about my relationship with Livia, which I now regret sending, and she filed a complaint against me for stalking out of fear that I could go public with what she had revealed to me about her marriage and work."
