Jenny Nixon Common Sense Media The father-daughter relationship is especially well done, with Yuna Bennett doing a standout job as the tenacious Charlie. Mar 27, 2024 Full Review Joel Keller Decider The Signal does a good job of splitting its story into two storylines that are well-defined, bringing the viewer along on the show’s central mystery in a way that keeps them interested without jerking them around. Mar 12, 2024 Full Review Jonathon Wilson Ready Steady Cut Most of these questions don’t have satisfactory answers, and the scant runtime shows its weaknesses by stripping peripheral characters of depth and making their motivations hazy. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 9, 2024 Full Review Chris Joyce Movies and Munchies (YouTube) While the special effects weren’t always great and some character areas are lacking in development or motive, the intrigue and conspiracies work, building an engaging thriller. Rated: 4/5 Mar 8, 2024 Full Review Elijah Gonzalez Paste Magazine Over its short four-episode runtime, it delivers conspiracy-laden thrills and builds out relatively affecting relationships between the family at the center of this tale, but unfortunately, the answers to its big questions end up feeling anticlimactic. Joseph M Probably the worst sci-fi show I have ever seen, horribly slow, horribly dumb and with a horrible end Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/24/24 Full Review Timothy M I love SciFi movies and good SciFi TV shows, so based on the premise of this show I eagerly started watching it. But after suffering through two episodes I decided I could not stand any more of this horrendous show. Literally everything is wrong with it. It tries to be SciFi but fails because there was no SciFi hook. It tries to be a tender family drama but fails because the main characters are all unlikable idiots. It regularly has people do things that no sane person would do, leaving me wondering why the writers every included that scene. How did a known insane person pass tests to go to space? Why does a hostile crowd harass a grieving father? Why do a million other pointless and unbelievable things happen? The writing was so bad I suspected that a first-generation AI wrote the script, but then I realized that an AI could do better. Only humans can write this badly. The acting was stiff The little girl who is supposed to be a sympathetic character is so poorly written and acted that I wanted to put a dunce cap on her and send her to the corner. I regret wasting two hours on this piece of trash. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/22/24 Full Review David B Very good, great story one of the best sc fi movies I have seen for a while Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/19/24 Full Review Eric M A huge waste of time. The dialogue is just awful. The acting was terrible. Are they real actors? Could not feel any empathy with any character, because the acting is so amateurish. Typical german actors: they lack charm and almost always seems like they are unhappy with everything. The plot is absolutely ridiculous. From the very beginning nothing makes much sense. So the plane crashes, they THINK (without ANY proof whatsoever) that Paula (protagonist) is the responsible, and decide to... harass THE HUSBAND? Who had NOTHING TO DO with the plane crash, and was now a WIDOW because his wife just DIED? That was just so stupid, nobody would believe this would ever happen in real life. How about the motivation for the vilain? NON-EXISTENT. Zero sense. In the end, the antecipated "ARRIVAL" is something so stupid that makes you wonder why you lost 4 hours of your life waiting for this. Thanfully, I fast-forwarded through the last 2 episodes, because the pacing is so slow it makes you want to sleep heavily. Just skip this terrible series, you're better off. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/15/24 Full Review Douglas H I guess science fiction shows don't have to follow any logic of science. What started out as intriguing soon turned nonsensical. The ending was supposed to be enlightening and surprising, but it was so bad I want my four hours back. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/11/24 Full Review Paul P Awful. Bad storyline and it was painful to watch. Apparently the writers had a hatred towards President Trump in the 2nd episode because they kept comparing him to extremely bad things that happened in history. Putin, Hitler, 911, North Korea and many others. A waste of time because the episodes had very little substance. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/02/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
