  1. Thanks for joining us!

    FT: Barcelona 1-0 Athletic Bilbao

Well, there was quite the end to that fixture.

It wasn't a classic, by any stretch, but yet again a product of Barcelona's youth system has broken through and made a telling impact for Spanish giants.

    They just keep creating them!

Have a good evening, take care.

  2. FULL-TIME: Barcelona 1-0 Athletic

Marc Guiu has well and truly introduced himself to the Barcelona faithful, with his impact proving the difference for the hosts in a narrow victory over Athletic Bilbao.

The visitors will undoubtedly rue missed chances in both halves but it could have gone either way.

It wasn't vintage Barcelona in the way that they played but, as has been the case for generations, players from their academy that make the difference

  3. Post update

    Barcelona 1-0 Athletic Bilbao

Barcelona go in search of a breakaway second goal, with Marcos Alonso down the left. The former Chelsea man drives into space and produces a cross that goes all the way through to Yamine Lamal. The 16-year-old gets under his attempted left-footed curler and it sails over the bar.

  4. INJURY TIME

    Barcelona 1-0 Athletic Bilbao

There will be four minutes of added time.

Barcelona look to be trying to hold the ball in the corner, which is only going to annoy the already-flustered away bench even more.

  5. YELLOW CARD

    Barcelona 1-0 Athletic Bilbao

I said earlier it could be a long evening for Oscar De Marcos, and the Athletic Bilbao has been given a tough time since the introduction of Marc Guiu.

He is rolled superbly by Joao Felix and takes him down, being booked for his troubles.

Felix rises well in the box soon after, but his header is tipped over the crossbar.

  6. Post update

    Barcelona 1-0 Athletic Bilbao

Marc Guiu was born in 2006. Until today he had never played senior professional football before.

What a way to make an impact.

  7. Post update

    Barcelona 1-0 Athletic Bilbao

The visitors are not happy, but the home fans don't care.

Barcelona are in full flow now and are getting breakaway after breakaway. Joao Felix's pass doesn't quite find Ferran Torres but they look like they want a second.

How that goal has invigorated the home side.

  8. YELLOW CARD

    Barcelona 1-0 Athletic Bilbao

Marc Guiu has been very involved in the match, and is booked for clearing out Unai Simon when the goalkeeper went to clear the ball.

    The exuberance of youth.

  9. GOAL - Barcelona 1-0 Athletic Bilbao

    Marc Guiu

    What a debut!

Marc Guiu scores on his first-ever La Liga appearance, running in behind and slotting effortlessly beyond Unai Simon with his first-ever shot in senior football.

He may only be 17, but that finish oozed maturity.

  10. SUBSTITUTION

    Barcelona 0-0 Athletic Bilbao

Another two changes for watch for both sides.

Nico Williams and Dani Garcia go off for the visitors, with Alex Berenguer and Unai Echevarria coming on.

Fermin Lopez and Alejandro Balde are replaced by the 17-year-old Marc Guiu and the more experienced Marcos Alonso.

  11. CLOSE!

    Barcelona 0-0 Athletic Bilbao

How many times have we seen Joao Cancelo do that for Man City?

The right-back steps inside onto his left foot and drives a low effort towards the near post that forces Unai Simon to get down quickly to his left to make the save.

The Joao's are trying to find a way through for the Catalans.

  12. Post update

    Barcelona 0-0 Athletic Bilbao

Joao Felix really is a wonderful footballer when he gets in full flow.

The Portuguese attacker dances through four challenges and tries to find an opening for Fermin Lopez, but the visitors are able to crowd it out.

Felix is really trying to make things happen and appears to be getting increasingly frustrated.

  13. SUBSTITUTION

    Barcelona 0-0 Athletic Bilbao

Some of the clearances I have seen tonight are less Barcelona under Xavi and more Stoke City under Tony Pulis.

Athletic Bilbao make a double change, with Inigo Galaretta and Gorka Guruzeta being replaced by Benat Diaz and Malcolm Adu.

It looks like Inaki Williams is now being joined by Oihan Sancet up top.

  14. CLOSE!

    Has to score!

Lamine Yamal's inexperience shows, after Barcelona break through and Joao Felix finds the 16-year-old unmarked on the right side of the box.

The young forward rushes his shot and drags it wide, as the best chance of the match goes begging.

  15. Post update

    Barcelona 0-0 Athletic Bilbao

Joao Felix once more sees a call for a foul waved away, before Ronald Araujo jumps sky-high to try and win a header.

The Uruguay international falls awkwardly on his back and, after initial worries for the centre-back, he is back on his feet and can continue.

  16. SUBSTITUTION

    Barcelona 0-0 Athletic Bilbao

Fermin Lopez sends the ball miles over from a good position in the box, before Xavi makes the first tactical changes of the match.

Off go Oriol Romeu and Andreas Christensen, and on come Yamine Lamal and the fit-again Ronald Araujo.

  17. CLOSE!

    Barcelona 0-0 Athletic Bilbao

    Unai Simon, that is brilliant!

The Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper produces a great double save to deny Barcelona after great work from Joao Cancelo and Ilkay Gundogan created a superb chance for Joao Felix, and then Fermin Lopez on the follow-up.

Fermin should probably have done better with the rebound, but Unai Simon should get plenty of credit for his reactions there.

  18. Post update

    Barcelona 0-0 Athletic Bilbao

Chances at both ends. First, Inaki Williams gets in behind after being found by his brother and fires into the side netting.

Then, Joao Felix looks to run through but can't quite reach the forward ball. So far, this game has very much been one of almosts.

  19. Post update

    Barcelona 0-0 Athletic Bilbao

Joao Cancelo fouls Inaki Williams and from the resulting free-kick, Nico Williams swings a ball in that is headed behind.

The corner is turned behind once more, so the visitors have another chance to hoist it into the box and it is cleared.

  20. Post update

    Barcelona 0-0 Athletic Bilbao

Inigo Martinez remains un-enraged, as the ball spins behind off an Athletic Bilbao head for a goal kick.
