Toei Animation began its studio in 1954, and its logo comes from one of its earliest movies, Puss in Boots. The studio produced close to three hundred shows and around two hundred movies. Literary tales are a common theme for Toei movies, like their adaptation of Dracula, Hans Christian Anderson's The Little Mermaid and some ballet retellings, especially in the 1970s.
Hayao Miyazaki directed some of his earliest movies, like The Great Adventure of Horus: Prince of the Sun with Toei. Toei also produced many films and television series for franchises anime fans are well-acquainted with today. Toei's responsible for huge series like Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, and Slayers.

Sailor Moon Eternal is part of the Sailor Moon Crystal reboot. The original Sailor Moon anime, also produced by Toei, already adapted this arc from Naoko Takeuchi's manga, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, but the new movie elevates the story to new heights that both new and old fans can appreciate. Toei released Sailor Moon Eternal with Netflix as a two-part movie in 2021.
